Should I Stay Or Should I Go? A Lesson On Facebook Groups.

By Emma on March 2, 2011 4 Comments

Lately, I have been inundated by instances where I was added to a Facebook group without any invitation and without my permission.  While I truly appreciate the thought, I have experienced groups that were just downright spammy and as emails from comments start pouring, the more I get aggravated by the emails that start coming in my Inbox!

If you’ve been online for the past 3 months, you have experienced and know exactly what I’m talking about… This video is for you…

No more enduring the annoyance!

The question now is:  Should you stay or should you go?

Well, if you like the group and the people in the group, you don’t have to leave the group… you can simply turn off the email notifications or customize the notifications instead of relying on the default which is to notify you every time someone leaves a comment or a post.

But…  if  you already have way too many communities you’re involved in and you have a tendency to be easily distracted, then it might be best to leave the group all together.

Personally, I have already left quite a few groups but I chose to still become a member of many other groups because I have relationships with the Organizers of the group but the only way I am able to handle my participation in those groups is to customize the notification.

I trust this video will help you! Let me know how it has worked for you…

Please leave a comment below or better yet, if you can make a video of how this has helped you, send me the raw file of that video and I will post that video on my own YouTube channel and share in social media… it’s a win-win! You get exposure and I get to help more people through your video.

By the way, I am planning a FREE 5-part webinar series on “5 Path’s To Profits” shortly.  If you haven’t subscribed to my Relational Marketing Secrets, you may do so now by clicking here.  That’s where I’ll be announcing the details to my webinar.

That’s all for now…

Until we connect…

I am cheering you on to your success!!!

Emma ;)

Spirituality and Skills for a Sustainable Success

Relationship Currency Emma Tiebens The Relational Marketer

I’m taking a break from packing, getting ready to leave on a 5 day cruise with my son and Mom.  Garrett has been on several cruises but this one is rather special as it’s a Mom and son “date”.  I was telling him how excited I am to watch the shows, fine dining everyday,  check out the Art Gallery, explore the excursions and best of all, eat pizza and frozen yogurt at midnight! I even told him that if the water is warm, I will go down on the pool slide!  (Mind you, I am not crazy about pools but I LOVE hot tubs and aromatherapy spas!)

We are leaving in a few hours but I had this thought that I want to share with you before I get “disconnected” from the online world for a few days… This past week, I was inspired by the best selling author of Trust Agents and founder of Human Business Works and Kitchen Table Companies, a gentleman that continues to inspire so many, Chris Brogan.

I have slightly tweaked my blog as a result of implementing Chris’ challenge on how to improve our blogs via his very personal and intimate service called Blog Topics.

Have you ever wondered how Spirituality and Skills are a great marriage for sustainable success?

It has been 2 years since I founded The Relational Marketer and at that time, all I knew was that there is something about being able to Encourage, Empower and Engage people that I am really passionate about.  Not to mention, I love being a Connector and seeing people forge new and powerful relationships.

When you do something you love – without a desire for manipulation or opportunistic motives, something magical always happens.  It’s as if you unknowingly plant seeds on fertile ground.

As a result of just genuinely caring and connecting people with each other, I realized that I was raising my “Influence Currency”… It wasn’t only until months ago that I realized the incredible people I am now so blessed to be associated with.  Yes, I am a living and breathing example of someone who has benefited greatly from “credibility by association”.

This morning, as I packed my suitcase, I thought about this…

Is increasing your circle of influence enough “currency” to get you by?  Is simply having credibility by association sustainable?

I wish I could tell you otherwise but the answer is a resounding NO…

Through personal experience, for sustainable success one needs:

1) Personal Development – for Mindset, Leadership, Motivation

2) Spirituality – for Inspiration, Faith, Hope, Love

3) Skills – Specialized Knowledge To Market and Monetize

I love to read…  Recently, I came across a website for Kingdom Economic Summit, as recommended by my good friend and  TV host, Teri Secrest.  I came across a slideshow which highlighted the 13 Types of Capital... (or currency because capital is currency… you can leverage them in so many ways!)

•Economic Capital (money, finance, currency)
•Social Capital (food, relief, policy, programs, initiatives, scientific)
•Spiritual Capital (Word of God, faith, alms, missions, fruits of Spirit, gifts of Spirit, discipleship, discernment)
•Knowledge Capital (what you or a team know, intellectual, mental)
•Political Capital (party service and patronage)
•Environmental Capital (carbon credits, global “green” movement)
•Creative Capital (creativity/artistic expression/IP)
•Positional Capital (roles, titles, authority)
•Institutional Capital (reputation, influence, status, alliances, partners)
•Physical Capital (energy/capacity/metabolism of muscles and heart-lungs
and genetic heredity; i.e., fitness and predisposition)
•Generational Capital (legacy, heritage, family lineage, wealth)
•Intimacy Capital (prayer, listening, worship, affection, dating, holding hands,
kissing, spending time together, marital intercourse)
•Relational Capital (span & depth of relationships, vertical/horizontal)

Notice the very last capital? It’s Relational Capital! You know what’s interesting? Relational, Knowledge, Institutional, Physical, and Spiritual Capital are the top 5 that governs and makes the other 8 possible.

My question to you is which capital are you heavily invested in? Where are you lacking? If you’re lacking in Relational, Knowledge and Spiritual, Institutional, I know I have an arsenal of knowledge and resources I can share with you to help you increase yours!

It starts with my Relational Marketing Secrets…

Let me know your thoughts… I look forward to connecting with you…

Until then…

I’m Cheering You On To Your Success!

Do You Need A Coach, Consultant or A Course?

By Emma on November 8, 2010 4 Comments
Share

I just came back from a truly powerful weekend at Mike Klingler’s Marketing Funnel Mastery.  Over 100 of my fellow marketers and entrepreneurs came together to build their own Marketing Funnels using Mike Klingler’s highly effective blueprint.

I was introduced to Marketing Funnel Mastery in June 2010 when I flew to Portland, OR.  It was so interesting to note that at that time, the Marketing Funnel I envisioned for myself was completely different from the funnel I am now working on.

IMG_0400
IMG_0405

IMG_0417
IMG_0421

IMG_0449
IMG_0454

I loved seeing my friends – Mike Klingler, Lisa Holcomb, Jerry Chen, Ferny Ceballos, DiDi Alcheva, Leta Russell, Cindy Schulson, Jackie Ulmer, Kelly Baader, Richard Goutal, Cindy Murphy, Natasha Nassar, Rich Hazlett, Glenn Arcaro, Matty Miller, Eleni Liapikis and Jim Harris to name a few.

Why am I so excited to share about my own funnel?  It’s because I absolutely love being able to really make sense and utilize EVERYTHING I have learned and accumulated for the past 2 1/2 years from all the Coaches, Consultants and Courses I have invested in!  They fit so perfectly in the funnel and there are highly specialized skills and education I can now share with the entrepreneurs who I am blessed to be given the chance to mentor and teach.

This weekend, as I listened to over 20 people share with me their own Marketing Funnels  I started thinking more about the Whats, Whys and Hows on how they can:

1) Identify and monetize their passion.

2) Craft an effective Marketing Funnel.

3) Create a Powerful V.I.P. Brand to attract their perfect clients.

This sounds simple but it really is a process… a process that is taking others years to put together.

If you’re in the process of creating yours, how would you know if you need a business Coach, Consultant or Course?  Do you know the difference between a Coach and a Consultant?

Funny, I have always thought of myself as a Coach but realized early this year that I was really acting as a combination of Coach and Consultant.

What’s the difference between a Coach, Consultant and A Course?  In my simplest description and definition…

A Coach, encourages you to think, to come up with your own solutions based on your values and priorities and what really comes natural for you.  Yes, a Coach will encourage you to tap into your fullest potential without losing YOU in the equation.

A Consultant on the other hand, enables his/her clients to follow a proven step by step process that has produced successful results for others.  It’s a generic plan – a blueprint if you may – that will allow the client to incorporate their essence in the blueprint, then start implementing.

Then the less expensive route is a Course… and they come in many forms, print, video, audio, live events or a combination of one or more of them.  Some people sometimes call this a System.  If you’re an online marketer, you’ve probably purchased enough books courses in your search of how to grow the business,  that is enough to fill an entire 8 ft bookshelf like mine!

I spoke with a lot of people this weekend and some of them prefer to hire a Coach who will help pull out the creative genius inside of you, while some prefer to have a Consultant who will tell them exactly what to do, infusing your essence into the blueprint as necessary.

What was evident though was that most entrepreneurs I spoke with are tired of simply buying a course without any back-up training and support.

So my question to you is which of the “4 Cs For A Profitable Business” would you invest money in at this moment to help you grow your business? A Coach?  A Consultant? A Course?  A Combination of 1 or more?

If you answered a combination of one or more, I would like to check out

www.RelationalMarketingSecrets.com

As a Social Media and Video Marketing and Branding Coach and Consultant for the past 2 years, I realize the importance of combining the “4 Cs For A Profitable Business” and I am proud to say that I am having a 2-day LIVE Event at the Hilton Hotel LAX in Los Angeles on Dec. 4 and 5.

For 2 days straight,  I will be your Coach and Consultant who will teach you a success proven course on V.I.P. Branding for Visibility, Influence and Profitability and I will teach you to effectively integrate all the social media marketing strategies you’re already doing.

I do want to hear from you on what your take is on the “4Cs for a Profitable Business”.  Which do you prefer?

“Bright and Shiny Object” or Escape Hole?

By Emma on October 14, 2010 9 Comments

Is this a "Bright and Shiny Object" or an Escape Hole?

I wasn’t planning on writing anything today as I am on a deadline to file my 2009 taxes! I know, I know… who ever said I was perfect? ;)

Yesterday, I had a great and in depth conversation with one of the few leaders I truly admire, Mike Klingler and unbeknownst to him, I wrote this as he inspire me to think and look around as to the reality of what’s going on around us.

There is a concern that has been nagging me for a few months now and I know I have been guilty and most of the people I know are guilty of this as well… it’s the “Bright and Shiny Object” syndrome or B.S.O. Syndrome. Trust me, I am guilty… In the past 6 years I have bought courses upon courses, seminars and systems with hopes that I will finally discover the “Holy Grail” that will leap my business forward.

I would tell myself… “Hmmm, sounds good… presentation is awesome… I am moved to action… love the benefits, I can use that in my business NOW and get a jump-start…”

BUT guess what? Some of those courses, systems and hundreds of pages of notes from events end up unused, untouched and they’re sitting there, useless…

So, in the past year… I started asking myself: “Is is it really just a Bright and Shiny Object Syndrome or is it an Escape Hole? Sometimes, we don’t even know the difference anymore as it has become the norm… it has become like an addiction…

In the past year or so, I finally took notice of this symptom. Granted, I am GRATEFUL that I took action in most of the opportunities and connections that came with the B.S.O. Syndrome. However, as I prepare my Excel spreadsheet for my taxes, it’s mind blowing how much I have actually spent on seminars, education, memberships, etc. – yes, including those that are still unopened!

Please don’t get me wrong.. I am all about personal development, staying inspired and learning skills necessary for entrepreneurs to stand out above the noise. But there comes a time when we become like “herds” and do things blindly and irresponsibly.

I am speaking from experience as you can probably sense my passion about this… I JUST DON’T WANT PEOPLE to make the same mistakes I did…

There is a huge surge on “celebritizing” ourselves… trust me, I know a thing or two about this one as I have a book called “Instant Online Celebrity” – however, being a celebrity goes much deeper than creating a following… Like Spidey’s wisdom says: “With great power comes great responsibility…”

We want to become – or at least be perceived – as celebrities but bottom line is, what’s your real intention? Is it just for self-gratification? Is it to lead a herd blindly or is it to make a difference and be able to really empower and move people towards the right direction?

I know I am getting off track here… I was writing about the B.S.O. Syndrome…

If you’re experiencing the B.S.O. Syndrome right now, here are some of my personal recommendations:

1) STOP… breathe… analyze…

2) Look through all the assets – the courses, info products you already have and see if you can make use of those first.

3) Check out the support you will get after you purchase something, does it include a live training, group coaching?

4) Understand what you’re getting into… what are the terms, guarantees, etc.

5) Look at your calendar and see how you’re going to fit in the learning curve you will have to invest in to implement it.

6) Create a personal “Accountability Challenge” for each development stage of your business… this is HUGE and it will keep you focused on the task at hand you need to finish. If you need an Accountability Mentor or Coach, find one!

7) Finally, DON’T RUSH SUCCESS! Good things still come to those who wait… Haste makes waste… this is true wisdom!

Ask yourself, is this really a “Bright and Shiny Object” or an “Escape Hole”? Sometimes, when the going gets tough, we think of ways to divert our attention into something else that we can sink our teeth into so we can tell ourselves we are “working” when in fact, we are escaping…. be honest with yourself… the truth could really set you free!

I trust that you will get some value out of this… I do care and you should care about your clients too…

Please share and/or comment… would love to hear your personal experiences…

Until next time, know that “I AM CHEERING YOU ON TO YOUR SUCCESS!!!”

Are You Really Passionate With Who You Are?

By Emma on October 4, 2010 2 Comments

Wow! I have really missed you!

Here, decompressing from an incredible week with Joel Bauer and my amazing classmates from ProfitPoint8 Speaking Business Mastery.  I have met and spent 7 days and part of the evening with the most amazing industry leaders and entrepreneurs who have their hearts set on making a huge difference in the lives of many!

With my classmates and our beloved Joel Bauer!

Joel Bauer has the gift of bringing out the best in everyone but most especially, he brings out the PASSION out of you and is masterful at finding out who you are at heart level and enabling you to speak so authentically about your gifts that will ultimately make someone’s life better.

Yes, I am a Joel fan and yes, I want to be like Joel when I “grow up”.  I am not proud… I celebrate who I believe truly deserves the title “Mentor’s Mentor”!  Why?  Because this month, I celebrate my “Passion 2 Profit” Anniversary… it was October 17 & 18, 2009 is when I attended Joel Bauer’s Passion 2 Profit and I left the event that weekend, telling myself:  “It’s time to stop being afraid of success… it’s time to embrace that I am powerful beyond measure!”  I owe this life changing revelation to Joel Bauer’s “Gift Shift”… I implore you to go to his Passion2Profit event to find out what that really means! The next one is on January 15/16, 2011 – I encourage you to be there!

Click below for more info:

Passion 2 Profit – January 15/16, 2010 – Woodland Hills, CA

Inspired by Joel Bauer at ProfitPoint8

People ask me all the time why I seem to “shine” everywhere I go… how is it possible that I connect with the right people and they seem to get drawn to me?  I thank you for noticing and my answer is simple…

I am passionate about GENUINELY CARING FOR PEOPLE AND I DO MY BEST TO CONSISTENTLY GIVE FROM THE HEART, constantly asking myself, “do I leave people better than I found them?”

All it took was someone like Joel Bauer, giving me the PERMISSION to be okay and passionate at being me! So, are you really passionate with who you are and what you have to offer?

What is your passion?  What it is that really gets you jumping out of bed in the morning, ready to seize the day?  If you’re reading this, you probably are one of my friends in social media who share the same desire of providing value for others.  If so, you’re on the right track! However, if you haven’t seen the level of success you’ve been seeking,  here are  3 very important things you might need to start contemplating on:

1) SPECIFICITY – of what your offering is.

2) STEP BY STEP Action Plan.

3) A MENTOR – who could help you cut your learning curve in half!

If you’re looking for Authenticity Branding for Influence and Profits, I most certainly can help you!  I would like to invite you to attend Empowered Business Entrepreneur Summit LIVE Event in a few weeks – October 29/30, 2010 in Newport Beach, CA.  I would love to meet you in person enable you to move forward in ways you never even thought possible for yourself!

I believe this video says it all:

As always… I’m here…

Cheering You On To Your Success!

To Whom Much Is Given… Much Is Expected

Plans to Prosper You by Emma Tiebens

"My Favorite Room In The Tiebens' Home"

It has been a rough 90 days for myself and my family.  The good news is that we’re all healthy, have all remained happy and have stayed together!  The bad news is that we made a decision to sell our home of 11 years!

Ever since we made that decision 90 days ago there have been many challenging twists and turns that needed to be dealt with.  They were so challenging that I was on pins and needles most of the time and have experienced a few breakdowns here and there!

Sure… through it all, I have managed to function – continued to attend events, connect with people, encourage my social media friends, empower my clients and still give Garrett and incredible summer experience.

However in the past few days, I decided to take a break and focus on things that mean most to me: MY FAMILY.  In my silence, I have received tons of love and support that I felt a sense of responsibility to share what’s going on.

Some of you may wonder, ‘Wow Emma, this is rather personal… are you sure you want to share this with the world?”  Well, I thought about it long and hard and I decided to do it because of this:

I believe that “We go through darkness so we can tell our stories and guide others to the light”.

Please don’t feel bad for us.  It was a decision we’ve contemplated on for years  but have been putting off because we thought for sure that if I work any harder, we just might be able to pull it off…  My hope for this post is for you to get inspired and somehow learn from the mistakes we’ve made.

Like many “aggressive” and risk-taking investors, we made decisions that proved great 7 years ago and purchased investment properties not anticipating what was to transpire with our economy.  We though for sure we were infallible and NOTHING will happen in the next 20 years!

Boy were we wrong… so with many others…

For the past 2 years I dove in head first learning online marketing, connecting with powerful people, building incredible relationships with them and my favorite part was empowering and helping other entrepreneurs and getting paid for what I love!  Needless to say, I neglected paying attention to what’s really going on, hoping and believing that the market will turn around soon!

Sure we were able to generate enough money to meet our enormous financial obligations to the banks and remained in honor for years and years, sacrificing lifestyle but making a choice to invest more in my business education, pushing forward because through it all, I continue to believe and hold on to my dream.  A dream that one day, I will have a HUGE business that will enable me us to invest again in what we love… residential real estate, gold and silver.

What we didn’t realize was for 4 or so years, we have “chased” a fantasy. We thought that if we only worked harder and seasoned it with time, we will get caught up.  We really believed that the “big money is right around the corner” and it just takes that one big break for us to be able to make our millions and pay of all our financial obligations in lump sum!

In January 2008, we met Dani Johnson for the first time and one principle that we learned from her was  to “Prosper Where You’re Planted…”.  We so got it at that time.  We realized that for us to get “promoted” in the universal sense, we need to be able to progress or succeed with what we have NOW and what we think we’re going to make in the future!

We can’t rely on future earnings, spend it now and expect to generate more…

Please listen to what I am saying here because there is a major lesson here… I am not “preaching” – I just want to drive this important principle as close to home as possible because I this is one of the major lessons we learned in this painful yet rewarding experience!

If you’re an entrepreneur who has mounds and mounds of debt, running around in circles, close to broke but continuing to live an “irresponsible” lifestyle you had prior to becoming broke, spending money you didn’t have with hopes that money is around the corner, I have news for you… YOU WILL STRUGGLE WITH SUCCESS.

It’s the Universal Law of Cause and Effect which says ‘what goes around comes around…” or the Golden Rule “do unto others as you would have others do unto you…” or “what you send out comes back to you tenfold…” I love what Joyce Meyer says all the time:

“YOU CAN’T EXPECT MONEY IF YOU DON’T RESPECT MONEY!”

The Bible says, “To whom much is given, much is expected…”  The irony of it all is that in the Parable of the Talents, the one Steward who was able to invest his money wisely was given more and the Steward who chose to be irresponsible, well, instead of being give more, everything he had was taken away from him!  How’s that for a lesson?

I guess I am sharing this VERY PERSONAL and painful lesson with you because 2 years ago, I heard the lesson and started doing something about it.  However, when things started looking up, I went back to my old ways – to what’s comfortable and somewhat “irresponsible”.

In the process of playing catch up with success and what my mentor Joel Bauer says “living along to get along”, we realized that we were slowly sacrificing something:

QUALITY OF LIFE…

I remember before Gary and I became parents, we would go on 4-5 trips a year as we absolutely love to travel!  When Garrett was born, the destinations changed a bit but we still traveled… we went on cruises, resorts and most of the time, they were top notch and on occasion, we even have our very own butler on board!

However, for the past two years, our family travel has been limited to a few trips here and there.  Gary’s not able take time off work as much as he used to and my time was spent servicing clients, building my online infrastructure,  further my studies via seminars and mentors and invest back into the business and in myself.

In January 2010, when I went to the Internet Marketers Caribbean Cruise I had a ton of fun but there was one thought that stuck in my mind the entire time:

“I wish Gary and Garrett were here…”

It dawned on me that we have not taken any major trips for 3 years!  I remembered always imagining that when we have our child/children, we will be traveling extensively, taking them to see museums, dining in the best places and introducing them to various cultures so they will grow up respecting all cultures of the world and loving the history of those cultures.

But instead, due to time and money limitations, we’ve opted for San Diego, Palm Springs, Santa Barbara… Sure they’re not that bad for most people but for us, we knew it was time to:

Buckle down… re-assess… re-group… learn to “prosper where we’re planted” – be able to live within our means.  We were ready to no longer be:

HOUSE RICH AND CASH POOR…

Quality of life means so much more to us now that Garrett is 8 years old.

And so, on June 2, 2010, after dodging the decision for 2 years, we have painfully decided to put our home of 11 years in the market… a home we helped design, where we have experienced incredibly beautiful memories – the home that housed our dreams.

Here are some photos our our beloved home… while we’re going to miss it, we know it will house a new family who are yet to create beautiful and memorable dreams for them.  I know that the best is yet to come for us!

I have learned a ton of painful lessons and joyful miracles during the past 2 1/2 months from when we made this decision.  I plan on sharing them with you, my wonderful friends and readers in my upcoming blog posts with hopes to inspire you and give those of you who are probably on going through the same experience some tools, techniques and resources to help guide you through this painful though “cleansing” process.

I thank all of you who continue to support and cheer me on as I go through this ordeal… Your friendship and love means sooo much to me!  I am creating this “series” as this is my way of paying it forward…

What a whirlwind of a week it was for me! I missed writing to you!  What a treat it was to actually spend the past week with my friend DiDi Alcheva, Founder of Social Media Press.  She flew back to LA after being in Valencia, Spain for almost 2 months and I had the privilege of having her stay at our home.

Okay, here is a recap of the last 6 days! As you read this post, keep in mind these 3 Major VIP events, ALL HAPPENED IN 5 DAYS!  It was hectic but oh so worth it!

As soon as Didi landed in LAX, I she had to be picked up by our mutual friend, the ever so amazing Jerry Chen, Creator of Build A Magnetic Network.  He immediately took Didi to the Los Angeles Athletic Club where good friends and Mentors Jorge Bueno and MaryAnne Morcos who were hosting their first ever Business Codex Society Networking Mixer, where I was also the featured speaker and spoke about “How To Achieve V.I.P. Status Using the Emma 5″! Our amazing friends Louie and Jini Pinto, Founders of Wealth Summit Live gave their invaluable time and resources to make sure this event is a big hit!

After the event, Jorge, MaryAnne, Jerry, DiDi and I went to the legendary The Pantry in downtown LA where they offer yummy breakfast 24 hours a day!  Needless to say, we didn’t get home until 3am!!!

Midnight Meal at The Pantry Los Angeles

Later that day, we scheduled a brainstorm session with just us 3 – Jerry, DiDi and I… it was amazing having a Mastermind session with those two!  We got some much covered and so many ideas were born that day…

The next day, Jerry, DiDi and I drove to the Hyatt Regency in Century City for the Braveheart Women RISE Kick Off Party for the LIVE Event in LA on Oct. 8, 9 and 10, with Drs. Ellie and Charlie Drake! Talk about a celebrity studded evening! For FREE Membership go to www.BraveheartWomen.com . It was so amazing to meet new friends Glenn Arcaro, Katie Freiling and Alicia Bausley.  We actually represented Social Media Press that evening! It was so amazing to see amazing friends – Mari Smith, Lynn Rose, Dr. Sugar Singleton, Paul Ryan, Jackie Hadden.  We also met new amazing people, especially Mr. Connector himself, Larry Benet.

DiDi and I got home around midnight and started packing for the Marketing Funnel Mastery LIVE Event in Portland, OR.  Our check in time at John Wayne Airport was 5:25 a.m. so needless to say, we had 2 hours of sleep!  When we arrived Portland, the Courtyard Marriott City Center was so gracious to allow us a really early check in so after we had light lunch in Downtown Pearl District, we took a 2-hour nap before attending Mike Klingler’s Welcome Cocktail Party!  What an amazing evening of connecting with people whom I’ve already met online! There is something about meeting online first and then meeting live and in person… there is already a silent bond!

The next 2 days were spent immersed in learning about how to master our own funnel – from what products to feature and how to market those products.  Mike Klingler did a phenomenal job teaching us step by step on how to finally create something and how the steps flow into the next.  It was also great to learn from Cindy Shulson, Barbara Silva and Kendall Silva.  Marketing Merge is at a hyper-speed growth! Mike shared a teeny glimpse on the future plans of MM at a very exclusive and posh barbeque that was privy to only 50 people!  The new headquarters on the 30th floor of the Ardea Bldg right on The Waterfront will make any entrepreneur green with envy! It was absolutely breathtaking!  The Marketing Merge Team truly did an amazing job organizing everything so kudos to Lisa Holcomb, Lindsey Holcomb and Rachel!

It was a wonderful ride back to Portland International Airport… a HUGE thank you to Thomas Germer who so generously offered to take my good friend, Celebrity Photographer and Entrepreneur, Moriah Diamond and I to the airport.  We ended up leaving at the same time though on different airlines so we had a chance to share some yummy Pinacoladas to toast to her planned 1 month vacation in the Big Island of Hawaii!

There you have it… 3 VIP Events in 5 days! As tiring as it seems, many joint venture partnerships have stemmed forth from it!

My question to you is, do you incorporate LIVE Celebrity Networking as part of your overall marketing strategy or do  you rely on online relationships?

If you already understand and are using LIVE networking as part of your overall marketing strategy, congratulations! I would love to hear how you’re doing it and how it has helped you with your business…

If you’re not, I would love to hear why not and if there’s a way I can help enlighten you on the benefits of live networking.

Do You Celebrate Progress Or Are You Frustrated With Success Delays?

Emma Tiebens Mind Map after Traffic Geyser event March 23, 2010

Emma Tiebens Mind Map after Traffic Geyser event March 23, 2010

I awoke this morning at 1:45 am and I couldn’t go back to sleep.  It wasn’t Garrett “sleep-walking” to our bed that woke me up, it was an intense desire to get massive ideas out of my head onto paper!

I just got back from a 3-day intensive Traffic Geyser Firepower Summit Event – and at this event, I was reminded of so many things about the past 2 years of my quest for the “Holy Grail” of online/internet marketing.

I got reminded of the fact that it was at a Traffic Geyser LIVE event in January last year when this blog, The Relational Marketer was born.  It was around 4:30am when I woke up in my hotel room at the Westin San Diego when I thought to myself “I know what I absolutely would LOVE to share people – “relationship marketing”!  That domain was already taken so I went for “relational marketer”.

This weekend reminded me of the power all of us entrepreneurs – yes, even those who are just starting out – to change the course of the history of this great nation!  Yes, we definitely need workers and employees but we also need successful businesses to hire the employees…  What about those charitable causes… who are the biggest supporters? Entrepreneurs and businesses!  Not everyone is born an entrepreneur but for those who do have the passion to make “elegant choices” (as my Mentor Joel Bauer would say) and have the spirit and the tenacity to see the process through, there are rewards waiting.

I do realize that before we get to those entrepreneurial rewards, there is sacrifice of time, money and freedom to be made and long learning curves to go through.  What has worked for me in the past 2 years is to be mindful to celebrate my progress no matter how small and insignificant they are.  I made a commitment to continue moving forward… what are my options?  To get frustrated and get more of that everyday?

This morning at 3:00 am, I couldn’t resist it… I created a rough Mind Map and colored it with Crayola crayon… No it’s not flashy or perfect but it has allowed me to get this ideas that are fighting for space in my brain, onto paper.  Now I have so much more clarity and I can go to bed.

I guess the lesson for this blog post is 2 fold:

1) Pay attention to your progress – CELEBRATE your success no matter how trivial it may seem.

and

2)  Write or draw your ideas on paper – create your own Mind Map just to clarify your initial “blueprint”.  Don’t strive to perfect it… make it functional first.   For some of you, creating a Vision Board works.  I do have a Vision Board and it’s on a previous blogpost – I will put the link below.

I would love to hear if you were inspired to create your own Mind Map and would love to see it!  Leave your comment and where I can see your Mind Map posted…

To Your Massive Success!

Take Time To Celebrate Moments Now… Not If… Not When…

By Emma on February 1, 2010 1 Comments

My family spent the weekend at the Westin LAX. The celebration was two fold – to celebrate Gary and Garrett’s birthdays and to plan a truly economical weekend getaway. Having been away for 9 days to attend the Internet Marketers Caribbean Cruise, I have missed my family so much! So, this weekend, I did my research and realized that we can actually create a weekend getaway for under $400! Granted, we used our Starwood points for the hotel but we choose a hotel that has all the amenities of a 5 star hotel but only required points for a 3 star hotel! This weekend could have easily cost at least $1,000 but we took the time to find out what resources we already have and put that to great use:

1) Used Starwood Reward Points for 3 days at the hotel.
2) Took advantage of SPG guests getting free Continental Breakfast
3) Took Garrett to night swimming and hot tubbing
4) Used our existing annual passes for Universal Studios
5) Had a great birthday dinner at Pancho’s in Manhattan Beach ( where Gary and I had our first date 15 years ago!)
6) Enjoyed afternoon tea with Garrett as we watched planes land at LAX from our room window.
7) Pizza delivery dinner from Valentino’s Pizza
8) Strolled around King Harbor in Redondo Beach and had an amazing seafood lunch
9) Took Garrett to the exclusive VIP Executive Lounge on the 12th floor
10) Hung out with Garrett at the lobby/lounge area and talked about our dreams.

Garrett is only 8 years old but honestly, I believe he has the mind and maturity of a 20 year old! He was sooo happy about this weekend and he couldn’t stop thanking us for it! That to me is simply PRICELESS!

As you go about your day, please remember “Who are you doing this all for?” We get so caught up with making a living that we forget about what happens in the process, which is LIFE! Life goes on whether you choose to enjoy it or not…

If I may make a suggestion… take time NOW to celebrate LIFE… don’t wait for when things are perfect… Sometimes, it’s so amazing to simply be IN THE MOMENT!

My Mentor Joel Bauer always reminds me to “Celebrate every moment…. ” He’s a living example of one who celebrates life’s simple joys…

So, I ask you… what have you been wanting to do to celebrate YOU and/or your family for sometime now? How can you commit to making sure that you decide on doing that NOW and not WHEN… nor IF… ?
