Alright, let’s address some important points first. I don’t consider myself an online “celebrity” by any means… however, people who I connect with day in and day out always tell me “Wow, you’re such a celebrity and here’s the kicker…. ” I SEE YOU EVERYWHERE!”

While that may not mean a lot to some of you, it truly is something that is worth paying attention to. Only about 1 year and a half ago, I have NO online presence whatsoever. All I knew then was that Mike Dillard taught me I need to start learning how to “give without want before I get what I want”. That was the phrase that spurred the birth of my brand, The Relational Marketer. I knew I had so much to offer but I didn’t really understand how to put everything together so I purchased Traffic Formula 1 and devoured that course!

A few months after I purchased the course, online marketing started evolving and it necessitated that I learned more in depth information on how a “Nerve Center” works and how tributaries flowed into it. Mike Dillard and Tim Erway who are always very in tuned and sensitive to what the market demands, decided to offer Traffic Formula 2.0 and I was one of the first respondents who purchased the course! Why? Because that was exactly what I needed at that time!

Yes, it took a few months to really understand and implement the concept but like I always say… “Good things come to those who wait but who also know how to implement as they wait”. I exercised my favorite parts of the course which are:

1) Market Discovery Formula
2)The Nerve Center – Key To A Successful Dominating Online Marketing Presence
3) Content Creation Factory
4) Nerve Center Traffic Generation Bonus
5) Social Media Traffic
6) Video Marketing – (my Favorite!)
7) Never Center Profitability Booster

In 6 months during and after implementation of these teachings, here are my tangible results:

1) I have created a Powerful and Branded Online Presence!
2) When you Google Emma Tiebens, there are now 18,800 search results!
3) I am now a sought after Online Marketing Consultant and Coach
4) I generate about 5-10 Leads a day from Social Media and Video Marketing alone!
5) I have many offers for Joint Venture Partnerships and Community Training opportunities
6) I have connected and built highly profitable business relationships with Industry Leaders I wouldn’t have been able to reach before!
7) I have created my first CD, wrote 1 Book, 2 eBooks, co-authored a book with Mari Smith, and 3 OnlineVideo Courses!
I have redesigned my Blog to reflect the Thesis WordPress Theme – an idea I resisted greatly prior to TF 2.0. Still work in progress but a huge leap never the less.
9) From being a network marketer who was simply looking to learn how to have an online presence for myself and my business, I evolved into an Author, Online Marketing Business Consultant and a Speaker who will soon have my own system!
10) I am able to connect at a deeper level with my thousands of Facebook, Twitter and YouTube friends and I’ve generated sizable income from helping them create a powerful online presence using Relational Marketing!

While some people reduce their results with just the $$$ signs measuring success, mine includes both. My business profits increased by 50% after TF 2.0 but what’s even more priceless are the doors to unlimited potential that have opened up and the knowing the best is yet to come!

THANK YOU MIKE DILLARD, TIM ERWAY, JUSTIN CHRISTIANSEN, JASON BETTER and the staff of Better Networker and Magnetic Sponsoring! You’re all visionaries and thank you for continuing to share your wisdom and your heart to the world!

Last week, I created this video to share why to this day, I am an advocate of Mike Dillard and the products and services he offers. People ask me why I still endorse his teachings now that I am already an author a business consultant and starting to speak in social circuits.

The plain and simple reason is this. Mike Dillard revolutionized – and in my opinion – has allowed a lot of us to really succeed in our chosen internet marketing businesses by teaching us not only the skills but the mindset that goes with a successful online entrepreneur. He is a visionary and he constantly seeks counsel and learns the most efficient and leveraged way to do things. He consistently invests in educating himself and surrounds himself with people who complement what he does. He is a Master Marketer, Strategist, Implementor and Delegator. If you don’t own his Magnetic Sponsoring course yet, it’s time you do!

A lot of people missed Mike’s initial offering of What’s Working Now but luckily Mike is offering it again but only for 2 days… Wednesday and Thursday April 21 and 22, 2010. With a wait list of almost 5,000 – it says something about this particular product.

Don’t wait for Wednesday… go to www.HeresWhatsWorkingNow.com . It will say “Oops sorry you missed it”… Put your name and email anyway and get on the list so you will be the first to get notified when he offers it again on Wednesday… you wouldn’t want to miss out again…

Sure, like other Mike Dillard products, this is also an affiliate offering… Would I still recommend it if this wasn’t an affiliate product? You bet I would! I have created videos sharing books that I’ve read that has worked for me and I don’t get paid a dime to review it… I recommend restaurants and movies all the time and never get rewarded for it.

Why do I still recommend Mike’s products? Here are my Top 5 Reasons:

1) I get to learn new skills.

2) I get to teach others the skills I learn.

3) The clients I coach now get to empower others with the same skills.

4) I get to spread the word about his product and other entrepreneurs benefit from it.

5) I get rewarded for referring his products to people – something that I would do for free!

Don’t just take my word – take advantage of his 30-day money back guarantee -

I am noticing lately that industry leaders are all sharing something that is a legitimate concern for a lot of online marketers….

INFORMATION OVERLOAD!

So, I decided to post something that hopefully will not add to that “overload” but hopefully help in streamlining your strategy and helping you create a structure to minimize information overload. Let’s face it, more information will be made more and more available so it will be up to you to use self-restraint and practice good judgment.

As a “Step By Step Accountability Coach” I hear this from clients ALL THE TIME. After helping clients get out of the overwhelm mode and personally going through the same frustration on what works and what doesn’t and having spent hours of frustration, thousands of dollars on courses, seminars and mentors – not to mention lots of nervous breakdowns and sleepless nights, I believe that I now have a clearer understanding of why there is Information Overload and what we can do about it. So, here is my “Top 10 Reasons For Information Overload With Entrepreneurs”. Scroll down as I will then give you the SOLUTION on How To Minimize Information Overload!

1) Lack of focus
2) Weakness is saying no to “BSOs” – Bright Shiny Objects
3) The “I’m Going To Miss Out” mentality – feeling the need to stay on the cutting edge
4) Not really understanding the mindset of how their passion is in alignment with what it is they are trying so hard to achieve.
5) Not clear on who their target market is or their message to that market so it becomes a shot gun approach
6) No Accountability to apply and implement the learning
7) The feeling of DESPERATION that they need to generate money FAST so they will try the best strategy that’s presented to them
8 ) Great highly talented copywriters who are irresistible writers! (I do admire them a lot but their gifts might not be to your best advantage if you don’t practice self-control )
9) Failure to set goals with a deadline for implementation
10) Last but not least… Having a “fan” or herd mentality that they will buy ANYTHING a their favorite “GURU” offers.

I am sure there are more reasons but from experience, having an awareness of these 10 main reasons and making a conscious decision to at least identify your reasons for allowing this overload to happen is a first step towards clarity and focus and ultimately RESULTS!

HOW CAN YOU MINIMIZE INFORMATION OVERLOAD?

It’s simple! Do the exact opposite of what’s causing it for you!

1) Have a focus… for every course presented to you, ask yourself: “How will this help me move forward at the exact stage I’m in right now?”
2) Resist “BSOs” – Bright Shiny Objects! They are very tempting!
3) Don’t entertain the “I’m Going To Miss Out” mentality – a good strategy will ALWAYS be there when you’re ready.
4) Be clear on your passion and make sure your offering is in alignment with your passion.
5) Get clear on who your audience is and do a laser targeted approach and speak their language!
6) Be ACCOUNTABLE! Implement what you have purchased first before you purchase another course.
7) DESPERATION is NOT your friend! Come from a place of expanding knowledge, not desperation of NEEDING MONEY NOW! You will simply repel whatever it is you are desperately needing…
8 ) Be mindful of a great sales copy and know that it’s a talent and it’s the copy’s job to tug at you and convert you into sales. Nothing wrong with this if you absolutely know you need the product. Don’t get sucked into the “scarcity close” of when it’s gone it’s gone or it’s only limited to a few people.
9) This is what I believe is IMPORTANT: Set a goal to implement and stick with that goal! Challenge yourself to reach that goal before you willingly distract yourself.
10) Last but not least… while there are gurus and leaders I truly admire, I suggest you resist that “fan” and herd mentality at all cost. If the product, course or program is not right for you at the moment, don’t just buy it because everyone’s doing it!

I am sure there are more reasons but from experience, having an awareness of these 10 main reasons and making a conscious decision to at least identify your reasons and pick a few actions on how to minimize the overload is a first step towards clarity and focus and ultimately RESULTS!

To Your Massive Success!

I awoke this morning at 1:45 am and I couldn’t go back to sleep. It wasn’t Garrett “sleep-walking” to our bed that woke me up, it was an intense desire to get massive ideas out of my head onto paper!

I just got back from a 3-day intensive Traffic Geyser Firepower Summit Event – and at this event, I was reminded of so many things about the past 2 years of my quest for the “Holy Grail” of online/internet marketing.

I got reminded of the fact that it was at a Traffic Geyser LIVE event in January last year when this blog, The Relational Marketer was born. It was around 4:30am when I woke up in my hotel room at the Westin San Diego when I thought to myself “I know what I absolutely would LOVE to share people – “relationship marketing”! That domain was already taken so I went for “relational marketer”.

This weekend reminded me of the power all of us entrepreneurs – yes, even those who are just starting out – to change the course of the history of this great nation! Yes, we definitely need workers and employees but we also need successful businesses to hire the employees… What about those charitable causes… who are the biggest supporters? Entrepreneurs and businesses! Not everyone is born an entrepreneur but for those who do have the passion to make “elegant choices” (as my Mentor Joel Bauer would say) and have the spirit and the tenacity to see the process through, there are rewards waiting.

I do realize that before we get to those entrepreneurial rewards, there is sacrifice of time, money and freedom to be made and long learning curves to go through. What has worked for me in the past 2 years is to be mindful to celebrate my progress no matter how small and insignificant they are. I made a commitment to continue moving forward… what are my options? To get frustrated and get more of that everyday?

This morning at 3:00 am, I couldn’t resist it… I created a rough Mind Map and colored it with Crayola crayon… No it’s not flashy or perfect but it has allowed me to get this ideas that are fighting for space in my brain, onto paper. Now I have so much more clarity and I can go to bed.

I guess the lesson for this blog post is 2 fold:

1) Pay attention to your progress – CELEBRATE your success no matter how trivial it may seem.

and

2) Write or draw your ideas on paper – create your own Mind Map just to clarify your initial “blueprint”. Don’t strive to perfect it… make it functional first. For some of you, creating a Vision Board works. I do have a Vision Board and it’s on a previous blogpost – I will put the link below.

I would love to hear if you were inspired to create your own Mind Map and would love to see it! Leave your comment and where I can see your Mind Map posted…

To Your Massive Success!

It’s Friday afternoon – around 4:00pm. I picked up Garrett from school and decided to run a quick errand at the nearby Vons Supermarket.

Right outside Vons, there was a woman outside sitting near the entrance. She had the most beautiful smile and she was holding a bucket with a sign that said “Please Help The Homeless”. Garrett couldn’t keep her eyes off her. As soon as we got inside, he said “Mom, we need to help her later…” I told him we would.

After our very quick grocery shopping, we were on our way out and I gave Garrett some money to put inside the bucket. When we got there, he eagerly but gently put the dollar bills into the bucket and as he respectfully looked at the lady he also said: “God Bless You…” Naturally, I was so proud of him for wanting to help people in need through his own initiative.

We got in the car, drove off, waved good-bye to the lady but after being in the car for a few minutes, Garrett remembered that he had his wallet in the car and in it was 10% of his recent savings which amounted to $20.00. He asked me: “Mom, is it okay if I gave my $20.00 to the homeless people?” My heart melted… I was dumbfounded! I was so touched that he wanted to help some more… He said “Mom, can we please turn around so I can give this to her? The Holy Spirit is telling me to do it…” You better believe that was all I needed to hear and I turned the car around as fast as a New York minute!

When we got there, Garrett excitedly went back to the lady and by then there was also another lady standing next to her giving her donation. He told her: “Excuse me Ma’m, we came back because I wanted to give you this… this is 10% of my savings….” Just then, the lady burst into tears – she couldn’t believe what she just saw and heard! With tears in her eyes and a big radiant smile on her face, she looked up in heaven and said “Dear God, please bless this young man for his heart!” She looked straight into Garrett’s eyes and she said “Young man, you know God sees your heart right at this very minute… He is going to richly bless you for your generosity”. Then she looked at me and said “You have to be so proud… you are doing a tremendous job teaching him.” It was one of those moments where I felt so proud to be a parent. By then all 3 of us were sharing tears of pride, gratitude and joy before Garrett could even comprehend what he just did!

We asked for their names – Corliss and Brenda. Corliss is a volunteer to help raise funds for the homeless and she’s normally at the Vons Supermarket on Fridays. Garrett has now decided that we will do our best to visit Corliss every Friday and perhaps even give his toys, clothes and food to those the homeless families Corliss represents. (I am still in tears reminiscing that moment… tears of a proud Mother!)

What happened this afternoon brought to mind something important. As we go about our day and we go through the motion of get, get, get: getting ahead in life, getting caught up with our “to-do list” and getting upset at the little things, may we always be reminded that our activities and decisions produce FRUITS – good fruits or bad fruits. Our activities and decisions are the seeds and the results are the fruits but depending on the type of plant, some trees take much longer to bear good fruit. As long as we stay consistent nourishing the plant that stems from those seeds, there is a bigger probability that it will bear the most succulent, sweetest and juiciest fruit!

I know this tree just did……

For lasting results, a person must move out of feeling anxiety, worry and ‘desperation’ in order to fully connect with others and themselves (both key to a successful thriving business).

However, “desperation” is often the catalyst that drives people to movement… to take the initial action.

So what we can achieve here is a discussion that not only answers the question that kicked off the topic, but also the answer to these questions:

“How do we, as leaders, help people move from the initial phase of business development (desperation, anxiety, worry, doubt, etc) into the more empowering catalyst for creation (inspiration) which is what allows them to actually fulfill their goals in business?”

“If someone hasn’t achieved success yet, how can they feel GOOD (inspired, confident) about the process?”

I’m not just looking for external things people can do (like read books, listen to inspiring tapes, though if these have assisted you feel free to share). More so, how does the person approach the actual process of developing their business when they feel they don’t know what the heck they’re trying to do with their business yet?

That’s a lot of questions all driving at the same thing… just let er lose! I’d like to hear from you.

Another thought and heart provoking discussion from you and I simply couldn’t resist chiming in. This was a HUGE issue for me as I evolved to where I am now and the clearer path I am heading now.

Two years ago, I barely knew how to send an email. I built my home business using traditional marketing strategies and as I was learning them, I did feel a sense of accomplishment. However I noticed that every time I learned something, it necessitated me to continue to learn more and learn more, adding a dimension to everything I needed to learn… from basics to intermediate to advance, then learning other basics, then intermediate, then advanced. There was no such thing as a COMPLETE system because we all are in different stages in our lives and in our business where we come in from different angles.

Right when I would think that one course, system or seminar is the ULTIMATE “Do-All, Be-All” to where I want to go, another pops out. Now, I don’t mind this because I am a proverbial learner… I LOVE learning new things, new technology and learning from Mentors who offer different strengths.

This is where the dilemma was – (and I learned it the hard way). With acquiring new knowledge and skills comes great sacrifice – of money, of time, of friends. I had to make choices and sacrifices of being away from my family, limiting my social life and worst, arguments with my spouse (despite his 100% support of my dreams) everytime it involves the next financial investment to further my skills.

I really thought for sure that with the time, effort and sacrifice I put into my “education” that I would have seen success within 1 year… the harder I pushed, the more elusive success became. I even began to doubt myself that I will ever see the congruency and success to everything I was doing.

At some point, desperation set in… I did things out of desperation. Desperation became my driving force. Desperation to succeed, to prove to my detractors who didn’t understand what I was doing that such a thing will work. Desperation that if I don’t succeed, we will lose our home. Desperation to save ourselves from embarassment.

One day, in a moment of meditation and prayer, I came to a realization that to be desperate is to COME FROM A PLACE OF LACK! I realized that everytime I acted in desperation, I felt this huge knot in my stomach… I was simply reacting out of fear. Suddenly, I got reminded: WHEN THERE IS FEAR, THERE IS NO FAITH!

It was all I needed to have a “heart shift” – I made a decision to come from a place of INSPIRATION. I decide to do things because it is what I am called to do… Out of the blue, my Mentor Joel Bauer showed up and he took it to a different level where I discovered my gifts and passion and the purpose for them.

Now, I come from a place of INSPIRATION. Everyday, I have a knowing that “something good is going to happen today” and I can’t wait to get out of bed because I know that what I am doing and where I am heading is so clear and so congruent with my life’s mission and purpose. Inspiration propells me to come from a place of abundance and not lack; the knowing the right people, the right message, the right books, courses and opportunities are going to come, effortlessly and that if we truly believe that God gives us the power to create the wealth and we’re operating from a place of LOVE, there is not stopping us!

In short, motivation from DESPERATION is empty, ineffective and short lived… motivation from Inspiration is more powerful, highly effective and lasts an entire lifetime!

I filmed this video only a couple of months ago when I attended Seth Godin’s LIVE Event at the beautiful St. Regis Hotel and Spa in Dana Point, CA. Needless to say, I found out about this event from Mari Smith’s Twitter tweets.

If you are using social media for your online marketing efforts, you probably have already heard of the name Mari Smith. Fast Company dubbed her as the “Pied Piper Of Social Media Marketing” and rightfully so! I have known of Mari for over a year now and in fact, she has been my social media role model. Back in October 2008 when I was getting my feet wet in social media, I followed Mari Smith. What’s really impressive about her was her transparency, warmth and the genuine desire to always give value! Not to mention her incredibly contagious enthusiasm and energy! I remember how much I wanted to be like her “when I grow up”!

Fast forward 14 months later, I finally met Mari Smith in person! I remember driving to St. Regis Hotel that night knowing that I will be meeting her for the first time. I was also excited to know that I will also be seeing one of my social media “heroines” Coach Deb Micek. Looking back when I made the decision to attend Seth Godin’s event, I wondered whether to get the VIP Ticket for $199 or the standard for $49. I realized that to have the opportunity to meet Seth Godin, Mari Smith and Coach Deb would be sooo worth the $199 and so I gladly paid it!

The event was a huge success! When I got there, I was told that 800 people registered! Immediately I knew that buying the VIP Lounge ticket was a great decision! As soon as I walked in the lounge, there they were, all smiles and oh so welcoming, Mari Smith and Coach Deb! Having the “guru” status both of them have, it’s so refreshing to note that they are so real… so accessible and so warm!

Mari and I have been tweeting with each other and recently ventured on co-authoring a book with 18 other writers from all over the world, entitled ‘RELATIONSHIP AGE”. Truly in the noisy world on Internet Marketing, those who know how to build and foster relationships are the ones who will remain strong. There is a huge shift happening right now… Customers are becoming more savvy, more choosy and more in tune with who’s telling the truth. People who constantly give value are the ones who will be noticed more.

When the opportunity to co-author a book with Mari Smith was offered to me, it was a no-brainer, I knew this is truly where I can give more value along with other amazing entrepreneurs who share the same vision and future for Relationship Marketing.

My chapter will be about “Relationship Video Marketing” – Discover How To Attract, Nurture and Retain Your Perfect Clients Through Relationship Video Marketing!

I am so excited to share with you the beginning stages of our book… Yes, it will be sold on Amazon.com. It’s a dream come true… whether it becomes a New York Times bestseller, in my heart, it already is!

Wow, I have missed you! I just came back from Mike Filsaime’s Internet Marketers Caribbean Cruise and I have not created any post here for over 2 weeks! It’s so unlike me!!!

I just wanted to share with you this video about my experience this morning when I received a personal phone call from Dave Walent of http://www.Sweetwater.com. I ordered a USB mic from their website at 2:00 a.m. today and I was NOT expecting a phone call from them at all! However, when Dave introduced himself and asked how he can help me, I started asking him questions about products that are 3x the price of what I have ordered.

Now, Dave could have easily sold me on an “upsell” and told me that those products are the best things to have but instead, he honestly told me that for my current purposes what I have purchased would suffice.

That was a true welcome change! How many times do we really think of our customers best interest first? I understand that most of the time we do… but if we honestly ask ourselves what we would have done in situations when a client is ready and eager to buy, would you have grabbed the opportunity?

I thank Dave Walent for inspiring this video blog post today. His knowledge and enthusiasm in educating me reflects his passion for what he does. I look forward to meeting and working with many more “Daves” in the future.

I will post videos and photos from our Internet Marketers Caribbean Cruise as soon as I come up for air

Have a truly beautiful and inspired day!

I had the most amazing 10-day Christmas family vacation in Louisville, Kentucky and I tell you, I struggled for the first two days not having any internet access! Thank goodness, Granny’s neighbor generously gave us access to her wi-fi so I was able to feel a sense of relief.

However, the challenge didn’t stop there… I realized that now I am really on vacation – which means lots of family get togethers, sight-seeing, dining out and lots of relaxing couch time with my husband and son. What I didn’t anticipate was their reaction everytime I picked up my laptop and started working.

In my mind, I was just doing what comes normal to me which was to stay connected to my online friends, associates and clients. I didn’t realize that the people around me just didn’t understand my need to always stay plugged in and connected. At a certain point, it was even perceived as “rude” to sit there while everyone was watching a movie and I was tapping the keys on my laptop.

I believe it boiled down to this: People don’t understand what we do as online, internet, social media, attraction or relational marketers. When we talk Facebook or Twitter, they think it’s mindless chatter – that is after they recover from that glazed look on their faces. God forbid they see us video taping or taking photos of every detail that happens around us and we’re on our smart phones sharing it with the world, people around us really think we’ve lost it!

So, what do we do when people we care so much about don’t understand what we do?

I don’t know… all I know is what has worked for me. I tried to associate or equate my situation into a scenario my family would understand. In my example, the question I asked my husband is this: “Would you buy from a stranger or from a person you know, like and trust?” Of course his answer was the latter. So I explained to him that when I connect to real people online, it allows them to know me, like me and trust me and that my way of connecting is utilizing the vehicles of social media – blogging, Facebook, Twitter and You Tube – in order for me to accomplish this. The second follow up question I ask him is this: What would you do if you didn’t get paid for it? Something you’ll do because you are absolutely passionate about it? He said “Designing airplanes…” I said: “Well, I will encourage and empower people”. I go on to explain that through relational marketing, I am able to do that and reach so many more people than I could do one of one. That made him understand what I do what I do.

What about you? What is it that you do that you find hard to explain to friends and family. If you’re in network marketing, it makes it doubly hard because as soon as you tell people you’re in network marketing, they already have an assumption of what you do so they put up a wall in front of them that you don’t get a chance to even explain exactly it is that you do.

I believe this makes for a great conversation so I invite you all to chime in on what has worked best for you. Share with us What Do You Say Or Do, When People Don’t Understand What You Do?

Please comment…. Many thanks!!!

Happy New Year 2010! Back from a 10-day Christmas Holiday in Louisville, KY… sharing my “New Year 2010″ Message… On the plane home, I realized that contrary to Barry Manilow, it’s NOT just another New Year’s Eve… This New Year 2010 is a year that is full of HOPE!
Happy New Year 2010! Back from a 10-day Christmas Holiday in Louisville, KY… sharing my “New Year 2010″ Message… On the plane home, I realized that contrary to Barry Manilow, it’s NOT just another New Year’s Eve…

This New Year 2010 is a year that is full of HOPE! Most of you who are probably reading this have been spinning your wheels for the past year or two figuring out which opportunity and strategy will work best for you. And while you’re not really finding the results you want, you’re still very much in the game.

My hope and prayer for you is that this year, you will gain the wisdom and discernment not just to “never give up” but to KNOW WHEN TO GIVE UP. This year I had to painfully sever ties with people who are not conjucive and in alignment with my purpose. I have redirected and evolved many times becuase as I forge ahead, no matter how uncertain the direction may have seemed at first, it started becoming clearer and the more I identify the corelation between my passion and my purpose, my strategies became clearer and yes, I have had to do many “evolutions”.

So, my question to you is, are you stuck beating a “dead horse”? I will share with you on Part 2 – “How To Know When To Give Up”.

Here’s to a New Year 2010 that’s a Year of Completion if not a Year of Clarity… Would like to take this opportunity to thank all of you who made my 2009 MEANINGFUL!

Cheering You On To Your Success!

Emma Tiebens
