Father’s Day Post… Why Dads are HEROES!

Fathers are our heroes...

Fathers Are Our Heroes

Garrett and I are sitting poolside here at the Westin Mission Hills… planned a quick “Dream Trips” getaway for Father’s Day and I am so glad I did because my husband Gary had 4 days to just relax and have an awesome time poolside, doing what he absolutely loves best… playing with Garrett and surrounding himself with other fun famiies!

Needless to say, I am the more “introvert” half of the equation. Please don’t get me wrong… I absolutely LOVE people and being able to build powerful relationships with them offline and online – in fact, I love it so much that I teach others how they too can connect with others. However, when I’m on vacation, it’s almost like a sacred thing… this is where I get caught up with my reading and yes for the vacation “purists”, I have to be honest I do carry my Mac poolside ;)

As I watch Gary and Garrett just spend time laughing and just being boys at the pool, I also watch other fathers play with their children… some are week old babies and some are teenage boys and girls. Regardless of their ages, one thing is evident… Fathers are HEROES.

From my own family’s perspective, here are “7 Things Why I Think Dads are HEROES”

1) They teach us to “toughen up” – while most Moms (especially yours truly) are rather cautious, Dads normally teach them to go for it and learn a lesson!

2) They are our #1 Cheerleaders! Have you ever been to children’s sporting events? Who screams and cheers the loudest? Dads!!!

3) They are “Pacifiers”… while Moms in general do most of the talking and “preaching” (alright, occasional nagging), it’s the Dad’s that come in and say, “Ok, that’s enough… let me have a word with him” and most of the time, peace happens.

4) Traditionally, they do bring home the bacon – and Mom’s get to cook them… they teach children good work ethics and children oftentimes model after them.

5) They are typically better at Math and Science! Thank goodness! I read somewhere that when Dad’s teach their children Math and Science and Moms teach Reading and Writing, children are more likely to assimilate faster.

6) They’re the family Spokesperson who deals with “Customer Service” issues or handling difficult situations and conflicts with service providers when Mom has already exhausted her resources.

7) They are the perfect “last resort” for obedience… “If you don’t do this, I’ll tell Dad about it!” Normally, children don’t want to disappoint Dad and most of the time, this works… (I can imagine it only works up to a certain age ;)

There you have it… in our home, Garrett always rough houses with his Dad while he’s gentle and always nurturing and loving with me. When Gary asks him “How come you beat me up and you don’t do this to Mommy?” His reply…. “Moms are for LOVING and Dads are for roughing up!”

I think I couldn’t have said it any better…

HAPPY FATHER’S DAY to all you wonderful Father’s out there! You truly are the unsung HEROES and I salute and celebrate YOU! Enjoy your day and may everyday be Father’s Day that you will be showered with the LOVE and RESPECT always..

Parentpreneur Secrets… Is Your Child Your #1 Fan?

By Emma on June 17, 2010 8 Comments

Is this video precious? This is soooo unscripted! Our 8-year old Garrett and I have a “tradition” of going out on a “date” 2x a week after school… whether it’s just a small picnic at Huntington Beach Central Park, the library, a short stroll at the beach or just a quick drive through or Starbucks run! We always make it a point to do something after school.

Yesterday, we were heading home from taking a walk at Central Park, he borrowed my iPhone and started filming himself! I was so surprised that I just let him go for it! What was so funny for me is that he absolutely mirrors the things I do… he sees me hold my iPhone or pocket camera with one hand as I create my videos and now, he too does the same!

Garrett truly understands what I do for a living as he sees my passion for it. However, he also knows that my priority is family. It’s not the quantity of time I spend with him but it’s the quality…

What sparked this blog post was when I saw this video and how Garrett truly is my Number #1 Fan! The awesome thing is that he’s the same way with his Dad… he calls Gary his “hero”. They have a truly special relationship!

As parents, it’s so rewarding to hear our children rave about us! I know that’s how I felt when Garrett started talking about me… (You could probably hear me laugh my heart out on the video!) There’s no feeling like it!

I am not saying Garrett is “perfect” as he definitely has his moments of defiance and constantly testing Mommy and Daddy on how much stuff he can get away with. Yes, he has been disciplined and experienced consequences for his choices but most of the time, he truly is a gem!

So, I thought I’d share with you my “Top 10 Parentpreneur Secrets on How To Have Your Children As Your Number #1 Fans!”

1) Carve out time for them – go on “dates”.
2) Always make them feel important by LISTENING to their stories (even if you’ve heard it 1000 times!
3) Laugh and be silly with them – give them lots of hugs!
4) Let them understand the nature of your work and how what you do positively impacts others.
5) Invite them to live meetings or seminars where children are allowed.
6) As much as possible, don’t argue w/ your spouse in front of them.
7) Tell them “I love you…” often at the least expected times.
8) Share with them about God’s love and how honoring and respecting parents is high on His list.
9) Discipline is not just about spanking but asking, hearing and understanding why they did what they did.
10) Making dinner time “sacred” – a time where family gets to talk and share!

I don’t have any degrees in psychology or family counseling but I am sharing what has worked for me and my family.

I would love to hear your parenting secrets, tips and traditions! Please share on the comments below…

MLM Online… Re-Visiting My Roots!

Emma Tiebens Network Marketing Online Coach

Two years ago, I made a conscious choice to gradually wean myself from building my network marketing business using traditional means of one on one prospecting and home/hotel presentations. I made a commitment to immerse myself in learning how to become an effective online attraction and relational marketer. Through the unbelievable personal growth, new discoveries and intense learning and implementation of skills, I have made a little “detour” and started Coaching and Consulting traditional business owners, coaches, and speakers on how to use social media and video marketing to create a brand and a powerful presence online which not only attracted their ideal clients but also positioned them as leading authorities, enabling them to reach people they wouldn’t have been able to reach before!

In doing so, I have neglected to focus on the very reason I went and sought internet/online marketing knowledge in the first place. That is to identify and help a select group of MLM business owners and network marketers who are coachable, are willing to do whatever it takes to brand themselves online and work alongside with me to learn the power of relational marketing to build a lasting and long term network marketing business!

The past 2 weeks, I came to a VERY important realization when my trusted friends, mentors and advisors started sharing what I believe are life altering emails! After being exposed to MLM Launch Formula by Jonathan Budd through Mike Klingler and DiDi Alcheva, then a week later got introduced to MLM Blog Secrets by Ty Tribble through Ann Sieg and George Fourie, it’s as if a dark veil was lifted from my face!

After 2 years of silence, I have realized that there is a huge segment of my social media friends and following that have been under served and they are my “network marketing” or MLM friends who are transitioning to learn what it will take for them to succeed in building their home business, network marketing or MLM business online. I get a lot of comments and I see, hear and meet a lot of online network marketers out there who are making endless mistakes online that is getting them into major overwhelm, costing them a ton of money and without seeing results or moving forward in their businesses. I WANT TO HELP THEM STOP THE OVERWHELM AND HELP BRING CLARITY TO THEIR CONFUSION!

So, I am BREAKING MY 2 year silence and am offering my www.NetworkMarketingOnlineCoach.com and www.MLMOnlineMadeSimple.com. (Site being designed at the moment). If you’re a network marketer or a professional transitioning into online marketing to promote your home business or network marketing opportunity, you’ll want to stay tune as I will be posting some invaluable information that will save you precious time and money and will help you get out of overwhelm!

Meanwhile, I would love to gift you with a Special Report on “Stop The Overwhelm! Avoid 5 Very COSTLY Mistakes Network Marketers Do Online That Wastes Money and Precious Time!” Just enter your information below and I will give you immediate access!
