Do You Have The Commitment Of A Black Belt Leader?

By Emma on September 20, 2009 2 Comments

This Friday, I was so honored to see our 7-year old Garrett get his first belt promotion in Tae Kwon Do… from White Belt to Yellow Belt… The joy on his face from such honor was priceless!

What makes me really happy and proud is the fact that at his young age of 7, he already has goals of becoming a Blackbelt Leader. Master Kim, his Sensei has specifically told us that it takes a good 3 years for someone to become a Blackbelt. It goes without saying that with that length of time to achieve something, it will definitely take a ton of COMMITMENT…

This made me think of YOU… my entrepreneurial friends who have been discouraged and disappointed from not seeing results in your businesses. Trust me, I’ve been there… I know exactly how it feels to be committed and do everything you’re told to do and still not results.

What I learned from my personal experience that success doesn’t happen swiftly for some because there is a lot of grooming and personal development that has to take place still and in the process you are getting strengthened.

So, from what Master Kim constantly teaches his students, I would like to share with you the 4 Goals of a Black Belt Leader:

1) Set high goals
2) Make a commitment to achieve those goals.
3) Work hard
4) Never give up

Looking at what stage you’re at in your business right now, where do you think you need a little boost? 1, 2, 3, 4 or a combination of a few of them?

For the longest time, I was running on pure passion and intention to never give up and guess what, it worked!

If you haven’t set high goals, do it NOW! Don’t set mediocre goals, set HIGH goals! One of my company’s great leaders said “Dream a big dream! The worst thing that can happen is that the small dream comes true!”

So, can you answer this question now? Do you have the commitment of a Black Belt leader? If you answered yes, then I believe success is inevitable for you!

THANK YOU For Making My Birthday This Year Extra Special!

By Emma on September 2, 2009 1 Comments

It’s now 6:03 a.m. on my special day… it’s my birthday!!!  Woohooo!  I’ve been awake since 4:30 a.m. with great anticipation for the day!

For the past 3 days, I’ve been receiving amazing and loving birthday well wishings from friends via email, Facebook and Twitter and I tell you, I have never experienced such incredible outpouring of LOVE!  This by far is one of the most amazing birthday’s I have ever had!

My husband Gary, son Garrett and Mom Elena are all with me vacationing here in beautiful Westin Mission Hills Villas in Rancho Mirage. This morning they woke up early with me, sang “Happy Birthday” to me and they gave me a most amazing and loving card… on the back of the card, was a drawing of the gift my husband gave me today: A NEW MACBOOK PRO!  I couldn’t believe what I saw… I have been saving up for a MacBook Pro and now hubby gave it to me as a surprise present!  I am still in shock…

However, what makes today even more special which continues to move me to tears even as I write this blog post is the kindness of people whom I’ve been so blessed to have connected with through social media – Facebook, Twitter and You Tube!   You know who you are… you who took the time to remember my special day and send me your loving well-wishing!

When people ask me, “How is it possible to build relationships online? It seems like a rather cold place to connect with people…”  I guess now I can really say:  “If you ever doubt the relationships you are able to build online, you better come check out my Facebook Wall and see for yourself because you will see people there who took the time to send me birthday well wishings and whose presence in my life - online and offline - continue to inspire me!” With that said, it is my hope that I am able to do the same to each and everyone of you!”

I created this video to say thank you to all of you who just blew me away with your thoughtfulness and for taking the time to make me know about it!  I am literally on Cloud 9 and EVERY GREETING THAT CONTINUES TO COME IN JUST MAKES MY HEART SMILE!  My intention is to send the link to this post to most of your “Inbox” to show you my GRATITUDE for having you in my life!  I will do my best to get to all of you!

If you found your way here through other avenues, I want to THANK YOU just the same for taking the time to read this…

What’s my birthday wish?  As I said on this video, my birthday wish is for God to continue to grant me the ability to utilize the gifts He gave me to continue to inspire, encourage and empower people, especially those in the business arena who are discouraged and lost.

More importantly, my birthday wish for YOU is that you continue to live a life on purpose and help others find theirs and in the process you too will become unbelievably blessed so you can become a blessing to others!

From my heart to yours:  “I’m Utterly Grateful For You!!!  Thank you for making my birthday extra special!

Why Worry Is USELESS and UNNECESSARY…

By Emma on August 31, 2009 No Comments

Here in beautiful Westin Mission Hills Villas in Rancho Mirage, CA for our family’s annual desert vacation.  My family understands that while we’re here, I need to divide my time between focused and inspired creativity as well as quality family time just relaxing poolside, couch time, watching movies in bed, dining out and some shopping.

Having been here for 2 days now, I really haven’t had the time to sit down for that “inspiration” to create my video curriculum to kick-in.  I just wanted to spend time with my family.  Although I know that’s the right thing to do, I still worry about my commitment to myself and to the people waiting for my video coaching to be completed.  So naturally, I started to worry that I won’t have a finished product by week’s end…

Well, at 5:30 a.m. today,  in my Inbox is this Purpose Driven Daily Devotional by Rick Warren… I thought I’d share it with you as it has truly enlightened me and it is my hope and prayer that it does the same for you!

Worry is something you learn to do.

There is no such thing as a “born worrier.” It is a learned response to life. You learned to worry from two sources:

1. You learned to worry from experience. After years of mistakes, failures, and unfulfilled expectations, you’ve discovered that things don’t always turn out right. Out of these experiences you formed the habit of worrying.

2. You learned to worry from examples. There are many models around you. Studies show that children usually pick up their parent’s worries. Anxious parents raise anxious kids.

Since worry is a learned response to life, it can be unlearned!

The starting point for overcoming worry is to realize it is useless. It does you no good to worry. It is “stewing without doing.” Worry has never changed anything. Worry cannot change the past. Worry cannot control the future. Worry only makes you miserable today.

Worry has never solved a problem, never paid a bill, and never cured an illness. It only paralyzes you so you can’t work on the solution. Worry is like racing a car when its engine is in neutral; it doesn’t get you anywhere, it just uses up gas.

The Bible teaches, “An anxious heart weighs a man down” (Proverbs 12:25 NIV).

On top of that, worry exaggerates the problem. It plays on your imagination. Have you ever noticed that when you worry about a problem it gets bigger? Every time you repeat if over and over in your mind you tend to add details, amplifying it so you feel worse.

What’s the solution? Instead of worrying, talk to God about what’s worrying you. He is someone who can do something about it.

“Don’t fret or worry. Instead of worrying, pray. Let petitions and praises shape your worries into prayers, letting God know your concerns. Before you know it, a sense of God’s wholeness, everything coming together for good, will come and settle you down. It’s wonderful what happens when Christ displaces worry at the center of your life” (Philippians 4:6–7 MSG).

What Are You Willing To Sacrifice?

By Emma on August 28, 2009 No Comments

My husband Gary was away on business for 3 weeks and this morning, he was so excited to come home when during his wait at the Nashville, TN airport, he was so fortunate to have witnessed a loving tribute to our honorable Men and Women of the US Army.  I would like to share this very short but poignant video my husband Gary took at 8:00am today.  How often do we get an opportunity – to really show our gratitude to our incredible Men and Women fighting for our Freedom leaving their own families, risking their lives?

As we go about our day to day, worrying about  how you can get promoted in your new job or what you need to do to take your business to the next level, let’s just pause and remind ourselves how SELFLESS these men and women are for sacrificing their time, families, opportunities and their lives for our freedom!  I posted this video to help remind us that WE ARE LIVING IN THE LAND OF THE FREE BECAUSE OF THE BRAVE… they have sacrificed so much for others… what are you willing to sacrifice?  It’s challenging as it is to sacrifice some things to gain success for ourselves, what more sacrificing a lot…for others? It seems rather impossible doesn’t it?

Yes, my husband got a bit emotional from the patriotism because his own father served in the Army in World War 2. Not to mention that he also missed his family after being away for only 3 weeks! He could only imagine these soldiers being away for so much longer! Let’s remember to take the time to thank and pray for our soldiers!

Please FORWARD, SHARE OR EMBED this video to remind others of what we were just reminded of! Thank you so much!

Sometimes, We Just Need To Step Back…

By Emma on August 25, 2009 1 Comments

I have missed writing on my Blog for almost 2 months! This summer has truly been rather challenging. I am not complaining… I love being a Mom in the summer! Garrett and I get to do all kinds of fun things and truly my family comes first before business. It may not seem that way at times but if you ask my husband Gary and son Garrett, they will give you a resounding “yes”!

This summer, I had to step back and re-analyze the direction I am heading. I spent the last year learning, implementing, connecting and partnering and now it’s time to actually create an actual product that will help many people.

Yes, I do have an eBook in the process which I started writing back in April and it’s almost finished. However, after assessing the needs of the people who are looking up to me for guidance, one thing is certain… most people need help with creating an online presence and some of them don’t really know where to begin. Having an online presence is the easy part but a lot of work and thinking would have to be invested into what it is that you would like to put online that will be associated with you. In essence, whatever you put online becomes your brand… What will that brand be? What message will you be sharing with the world?

Amazingly, when I decided to step back from focusing on pursuing the next level for my business, I was able to spend a ton of time with my family and I was still able to do the following:

1) Cleaned up my messes – lots of them!
2) Created a very clear Vision Board w/ my good friend Amy Schuber
3) Found a Quantum Leap Coach, Tracy Repchuk c/o www.YourMillionDollarDesign.com  and committed to attending Mike Filsaime’s Annual Internet Marketers’ Caribbean Cruise in January 2010 c/o www.InternetMarketersVacations.com
4) Created my video coaching curriculum c/o Russell Brunson’s MicroContinuity Program.
5) Masterminded with a few associates for future Joint Venture Projects
6) Organized our financial documents – yes, even our taxes!
7) Edited videos for clients
8) Lost 7 lbs. in 2 weeks – thanks to Beachbody’s Turbo Jam!
9) Started a healthier lifestyle choice with My Vega.
10) And many more positive life-altering activities!

So, ask yourself, what do you need to step back from? Why do you need to do that and what do you need to accomplish while you’re making a conscious decision to step back from it?

Sometimes, to step back actually allows you to get closer to that very thing you’ve been pushing forward. That’s when “effortless” success really happens. So, if you need to step back and re-analyze things… that’s perfectly fine… just make sure that you don’t leave for too long… just like muscles, your desire to move forward towards a vision needs to be exercised…

Have a wonderful time… enjoy your break and drop me a line or two to let me know how this idea has helped you!

Why I Cleaned My Messes…Why You Should Too!

By Emma on June 30, 2009 5 Comments

Have you ever felt that something is holding your success back but can’t put your finger on it? We all aim for different levels of success and after achieving a certain level, we are ready for the next.

Sometimes though, we feel “stuck” and no matter what we do or how hard we work, we remain stuck. That’s what I felt in the past 3 months. I have been gearing up to launch my “Your Own Celebrity Video” business but somehow something gets in the way.

One of the very first lessons I learned last year regarding success breakthroughs came from a lady I so admire…her name is Dani Johnson. She introduced me to the concept of “prospering where you’re planted”. I remember her saying “God has given you talents, resources and money to manage and until you’re able to be a good custodian of it, He’s not going to give you more”.

Joyce Meyer also told me something along those lines: “You can’t expect money if you don’t respect money”.

On May 16, 2009, while attending the Dreams to Reality Summit by Best-selling Author and Success Coach, Tracy Repchuk, we had the opportunity to listen to some amazing speakers! However, there was a gentleman who grabbed my full attention. His name is Raymond Aaron. Raymond is a highly respected Life and Success Coach and what he shared with us that day was straight from God’s mouth to my heart. He said “A mess is a lock on the gate that keeps abundance out! A mess is anything on the inside that is not in congruence with your outside…” Wow, that hit me like a ton of brick!

I started thinking about the many messes that I have allowed to slowly creep into my home, my life, my relationships and my spirit. I realized that I have done a great job telling my messes “I will deal with you once I achieve this financial goal…”. What I was forgetting was that every time I see or remember a particular mess, it actually subconsciouly derails my focus!

So, for the past month, I have been busy cleaning up my messes and that includes re-organizing my garage, tidying my home office, made my DayTimer system more efficient, putting more organizers and hooks in my closet, clearing out Garrett’s closet, dusting the books in my library, washing the drapes, removing the area rug from our family room and even cleaning the floor grout in our entire home all by myself! Well, except for when our 7-yr old son Garrett wanted to help out with grout removal in the kitchen.   He actually loved it!  Now you know why I have a soft spot for Billy Mays’ Kaboom and OxiClean…they truly are amazing!  Below  are some before and after photos:

Plans to Prosper You by Emma Tiebens

While others might see this as a waste of my time, I have to disagree. It was during tidying of these messes when I received clearer revelations and business ideas that I was able to implement while cleaning my messes. My friends told me to just hire someone to do the work and normally I would have but this time, cleaning up my messes has become a personal challenge and the only victor I would accept was if the effort personally was done by me.

I am happy and proud to say that as a result of this, when I walk into my home, I feel victorious… there was no more feeling “Ugh, I wish I had more time to do that….” or “Ugh, I’m slacking on being a wife and Mom…” Getting rid of those messes truly freed me from guilt, allowing me to focus more on what I do best – encouraging and empowering others to succeed. Oh and by the way, it was during this time when I got a video client who has asked me to create 5 videos for her!

What messes do you have in your lives? Maybe it’s time for an inventory and start scheduling when you will tackle them. You never know… just by doing so could simply allow you to take the first step towards a more victorious living!

The World In Mourning…Why Am I Mourning With It?

By Emma on June 26, 2009 8 Comments

A couple of days ago, when I heard the passing of Ed McMahon – I was saddened…I know of the man and how he entertained a lot of people and is the face of hope for many who participated in the American Publishing House Sweepstakes which ran for years!

Then, yesterday morning, I was saddened to hear about Farrah Fawcett’s passing…she was the epitome of beauty, style, grace and fame for me as a young girl in Manila, Philippines. I remember eagerly awaiting her show “Charlie’s Angels” every week and to see the re-runs was the highlight of my day! I have 3 sisters and we would pretend to be Charlie’s Angels and I would always be Jill!

Yesterday afternoon, when I found out that Michael Jackson was found in his home not breathing, I was shocked… I didn’t know what to feel… I wasn’t sure at first whether they were able to revive him at some point so I eagerly watched the Twitter Trends to see what was going on. My Mom turned the news on and it was then when I saw “Michael Jackson 1958-2009″ – my heart ached… I ran to my computer and checked Twitter and it was confirmed – Michael Jackson was pronounced dead at 50.

I didn’t know exactly what to feel as I haven’t really heard much of him in the last few years. I guess subconciously, I wanted to preserve my memory of the Michael Jackson of the 70′s through the 90′s. His music has impacted my life in more ways than one. My Mom is a lover of music and the first album she bought us was the Jackson 5 Album which had Ben, Rockin Robin, I’ll Be There… I associated those songs with a time in my life where everything was wholesomely simple and innocent.

In 1985 a special song gave me a vision that even as a young woman from the Philippines, I could still make a difference in the world. That song was “We Are The World”! What made it even more special for me was because Michael was one of the few who spearheaded this worldwide worthy cause.

A few years after I moved into the US, Michael released “Heal The World”. At that time he made a quick visit to Manila and I remember seeing him on TV when he visited the children at the hospitals and how genuine and caring he was to them. He even said that his personal song for the impoverished people for my country was “Heal The World”. I understood then what it meant to be able to gain fame and use that fame for a worthwhile cause.

When “You Are Not Alone” was released a couple of years later…I remember sobbing listening to that song, remembering how much I missed my family in Manila and how my migration here was partly because I want to be able to help them. His song helped encourage and inspire me to press on. I took that song as God’s message to me telling me that I will never be alone because He’s always with me.

Yesterday, I said a prayer for comfort for the families of Ed, Farrah and Michael and the eternal peace of their souls. I thought that was enough to show my mourning for these special people who have made a difference in the world through sharing of their talents. It finally hit me last night, after watching videos of my favorite Michael Jackson songs that I actually share in the grief of everyone whose lives were somewhat impacted by these three individuals.

This morning, as I was having coffee with my Mom we couldn’t help talk about my childhood memories…my Mom vividly remembers and associates his songs with particular milestones in our lives. I was supposed to be working on my videos and autoresponders right now but instead, I decided to blog and pay my last respects to three amazing individuals who helped shaped the world.

The message is clear…WE CAN ALL MAKE A DIFFERENCE. We are all given gifts to use for the betterment of people within our reach. It’s up to us to do what we can to expand that reach and always think of how we can leave people better than we found them.

The Fly Boys Movie – A Promise Kept…

By Emma on May 28, 2009 3 Comments

It has been 2 weeks since I promised The Fly Boys Movie Director Rocco Devilliers that I was going to help get the word out about his amazing movie! Needless to say, with our 7-year old son Garrett getting sick and my Mother-In-Law visiting us from Louisville, KY – I was a bit sidetracked. So now, here it is, it is with utmost HONOR and PRIVILEGE that I present to you…. The Fly Boys Movie!

I have seen many movies in my lifetime and at one point in my life even worked as a Production Assistant for one of the biggest film company in the Philippines but this movie has struck a deep, deep cord in my heart! I am by no means an expert movie reviewer but I have to say that THIS IS A MOVIE THAT YOU, YOUR FAMILIES AND FRIENDS HAVE TO WATCH! After you watch it, you’ll feel that same sense of obligation to tell others about it! This movie absolutely speaks to the SOUL! As Leonardo Da Vinci once said: “When once you have tasted flight, you will forever walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward, for there you have been, and there you will always long to return”…

Wach this trailer, read the highly inspirational story of Director Rocco Devilliers and how he relates the story of the birth of The Fly Boys…..

THE BIRTH OF A DREAM… A PROMISE KEPT…
by ROCCO DEVILLIERS, DIRECTOR – THE FLY BOYS MOVIE

“Who would have thought that a speeding ticket somewhere in Missouri late one rainy night could lead to a friendship and collaboration like the one I’ve had with Lisle Moore. I was in my early twenties when I packed everything I owned into my car and drove across this great nation of ours to edit my first little film in North Carolina. My dear friend and mentor, Louis H. Asbury was donating his editorial facilities so that I could complete my project. The second night on the road, I was pulled over for speeding. I had no idea what town I was in and was surprised to hear from the officer that I was traveling 103 MPH. I was even more surprised when he arrested me for having a revoked license.

Without cash to make the $450 bail and with no ATMs in sight, I was forced to choose a bail bondsman from a long list that was provided by the arresting officer. I picked one name and called the number – Lisle Moore, Sr. came down to the station. After questioning me about who I was and where I was from, he suddenly became very interested after I told him that I was involved in film. AFter a 30-minute conversation about making movies, Lisle SR. told me his son, Lisle was a very talented musician and had always wanted to score a film. Lisle Sr. bailed me out of jail that night and invited me home. He fed me, offered me a place to stay and introduced me to his son, Lisle Moore…the rest is history.

The Moores have become like my second family. Lisle Sr. raised the funds to produce THE FLYBOYS and became an Executive Producer of the film. His son, Lisle Moore composed the beautiful score in the soundtrack for THE FLYBOYS. The irony of the story is when I returned to the small town of Fulton, Missouri to appear before the judge for my speeding ticket and “revoked” license, it was determined that my license wasn’t revoked at all – it was simply computer error that led to my arrest.

I believe that God was watching over me that night…..”

Do You Have An Attitude Of Gratitude? Are You Waiting To Be Happy?

By Emma on May 15, 2009 No Comments

As part of my weekly commitment to write an article that is an offshoot from my eBook Proverbial Success Principles, I really had to pause and think of what lesson I wanted to share this week. And with the new teachings and revelations that my family continues to implement, this principle I believe is one of the biggest principles that we need to truly understand.

It’s this question: “Do you have an attitude of gratitude?” If so, what are you grateful for? The follow up question to that is: “Do you CHOOSE to be happy or do you wait to FEEL happy?”

Every day, I encounter people offline and online and with all the uncertainties happening around us, it’s inevitable that you will come across people who are disgruntled, frustrated, fearful and anxious. It only takes a teeny trigger and they blow up with an unexplainable reaction! These nasty negative emotions are so evident with people lately…unhappiness, hatred, rage…

I am not saying we should never allow ourselves to feel negatively when we need to. All I am saying is that it is possible for us to have some control over our emotions by being aware of the state of our heart. For the past 2 years, I have gone through a roller coaster of emotions that is part of this long learning curve I chose to take on when I made a decision to transition from being an offline entrepreneur to how to become an effective online marketer.

When I would feel an onset of frustration and disappointment, my tendency was to wallow in it and have a “pity party” for myself. Now, know that when I am feeling anxious and discouraged, what I need to do is transition from a place of ungratefulness to a place of gratitude.

How does one do that? Here are 5 Things to Help You Keep An Attitude of Gratitude:

1) Make a list of what you’re grateful for daily. Have a journal if you can’t remember them. Memorize that list… have that become a part of your make-up. When you start feeling discouraged, review your list and it’s amazing what that does!
2) Replace entitlement mentality to a responsibility mentality. When we expect to be entitled to things, there is more opportunity for a let-down. Teach yourself to be responsible for your own actions. It will help you take ownership and it will lead the way for how you will react to set backs and disappointments. I believe it was Marshall Sylver who said: “to gain control, you must relinquish control”.
3) Do you have the habit of comparing yourself with others? This is a big TRAP! If you continue to compare yourself with others it’s going to be a challenge for you to be grateful for your gifts! Be yourself – you have your own target audience who are willing to hear from and be loved by you!
4) Are you CHOOSING to be happy or do you wait to FEEL happy? Happiness is a choice. Don’t wait to feel happy as that might never come. Instead, make a decision that you will choose to be happy for the most part!
5) Remember and memorize this mantra from Joyce Meyer which I have consistently applied in my day to day life: “Something good is going to happen to me today and I can hardly wait to see what God has in store for me today!” Don’t you think this sounds much better than “Another day, another opportunity to be miserable…?”

Gratitude is an attitude and it can be learned… what are you waiting for, make your list now and start writing everything that you’re grateful for now. You’ll quickly realize that the glass was truly half full along…you just thought it was half empty….
