Why I Cleaned My Messes…Why You Should Too!

By Emma on June 30, 2009 5 Comments

Have you ever felt that something is holding your success back but can’t put your finger on it? We all aim for different levels of success and after achieving a certain level, we are ready for the next.

Sometimes though, we feel “stuck” and no matter what we do or how hard we work, we remain stuck. That’s what I felt in the past 3 months. I have been gearing up to launch my “Your Own Celebrity Video” business but somehow something gets in the way.

One of the very first lessons I learned last year regarding success breakthroughs came from a lady I so admire…her name is Dani Johnson. She introduced me to the concept of “prospering where you’re planted”. I remember her saying “God has given you talents, resources and money to manage and until you’re able to be a good custodian of it, He’s not going to give you more”.

Joyce Meyer also told me something along those lines: “You can’t expect money if you don’t respect money”.

On May 16, 2009, while attending the Dreams to Reality Summit by Best-selling Author and Success Coach, Tracy Repchuk, we had the opportunity to listen to some amazing speakers! However, there was a gentleman who grabbed my full attention. His name is Raymond Aaron. Raymond is a highly respected Life and Success Coach and what he shared with us that day was straight from God’s mouth to my heart. He said “A mess is a lock on the gate that keeps abundance out! A mess is anything on the inside that is not in congruence with your outside…” Wow, that hit me like a ton of brick!

I started thinking about the many messes that I have allowed to slowly creep into my home, my life, my relationships and my spirit. I realized that I have done a great job telling my messes “I will deal with you once I achieve this financial goal…”. What I was forgetting was that every time I see or remember a particular mess, it actually subconsciouly derails my focus!

So, for the past month, I have been busy cleaning up my messes and that includes re-organizing my garage, tidying my home office, made my DayTimer system more efficient, putting more organizers and hooks in my closet, clearing out Garrett’s closet, dusting the books in my library, washing the drapes, removing the area rug from our family room and even cleaning the floor grout in our entire home all by myself! Well, except for when our 7-yr old son Garrett wanted to help out with grout removal in the kitchen.   He actually loved it!  Now you know why I have a soft spot for Billy Mays’ Kaboom and OxiClean…they truly are amazing!  Below  are some before and after photos:

Plans to Prosper You by Emma Tiebens

While others might see this as a waste of my time, I have to disagree. It was during tidying of these messes when I received clearer revelations and business ideas that I was able to implement while cleaning my messes. My friends told me to just hire someone to do the work and normally I would have but this time, cleaning up my messes has become a personal challenge and the only victor I would accept was if the effort personally was done by me.

I am happy and proud to say that as a result of this, when I walk into my home, I feel victorious… there was no more feeling “Ugh, I wish I had more time to do that….” or “Ugh, I’m slacking on being a wife and Mom…” Getting rid of those messes truly freed me from guilt, allowing me to focus more on what I do best – encouraging and empowering others to succeed. Oh and by the way, it was during this time when I got a video client who has asked me to create 5 videos for her!

What messes do you have in your lives? Maybe it’s time for an inventory and start scheduling when you will tackle them. You never know… just by doing so could simply allow you to take the first step towards a more victorious living!

The World In Mourning…Why Am I Mourning With It?

By Emma on June 26, 2009 8 Comments

A couple of days ago, when I heard the passing of Ed McMahon – I was saddened…I know of the man and how he entertained a lot of people and is the face of hope for many who participated in the American Publishing House Sweepstakes which ran for years!

Then, yesterday morning, I was saddened to hear about Farrah Fawcett’s passing…she was the epitome of beauty, style, grace and fame for me as a young girl in Manila, Philippines. I remember eagerly awaiting her show “Charlie’s Angels” every week and to see the re-runs was the highlight of my day! I have 3 sisters and we would pretend to be Charlie’s Angels and I would always be Jill!

Yesterday afternoon, when I found out that Michael Jackson was found in his home not breathing, I was shocked… I didn’t know what to feel… I wasn’t sure at first whether they were able to revive him at some point so I eagerly watched the Twitter Trends to see what was going on. My Mom turned the news on and it was then when I saw “Michael Jackson 1958-2009″ – my heart ached… I ran to my computer and checked Twitter and it was confirmed – Michael Jackson was pronounced dead at 50.

I didn’t know exactly what to feel as I haven’t really heard much of him in the last few years. I guess subconciously, I wanted to preserve my memory of the Michael Jackson of the 70′s through the 90′s. His music has impacted my life in more ways than one. My Mom is a lover of music and the first album she bought us was the Jackson 5 Album which had Ben, Rockin Robin, I’ll Be There… I associated those songs with a time in my life where everything was wholesomely simple and innocent.

In 1985 a special song gave me a vision that even as a young woman from the Philippines, I could still make a difference in the world. That song was “We Are The World”! What made it even more special for me was because Michael was one of the few who spearheaded this worldwide worthy cause.

A few years after I moved into the US, Michael released “Heal The World”. At that time he made a quick visit to Manila and I remember seeing him on TV when he visited the children at the hospitals and how genuine and caring he was to them. He even said that his personal song for the impoverished people for my country was “Heal The World”. I understood then what it meant to be able to gain fame and use that fame for a worthwhile cause.

When “You Are Not Alone” was released a couple of years later…I remember sobbing listening to that song, remembering how much I missed my family in Manila and how my migration here was partly because I want to be able to help them. His song helped encourage and inspire me to press on. I took that song as God’s message to me telling me that I will never be alone because He’s always with me.

Yesterday, I said a prayer for comfort for the families of Ed, Farrah and Michael and the eternal peace of their souls. I thought that was enough to show my mourning for these special people who have made a difference in the world through sharing of their talents. It finally hit me last night, after watching videos of my favorite Michael Jackson songs that I actually share in the grief of everyone whose lives were somewhat impacted by these three individuals.

This morning, as I was having coffee with my Mom we couldn’t help talk about my childhood memories…my Mom vividly remembers and associates his songs with particular milestones in our lives. I was supposed to be working on my videos and autoresponders right now but instead, I decided to blog and pay my last respects to three amazing individuals who helped shaped the world.

The message is clear…WE CAN ALL MAKE A DIFFERENCE. We are all given gifts to use for the betterment of people within our reach. It’s up to us to do what we can to expand that reach and always think of how we can leave people better than we found them.

Mind Mapping…Have You Tried It?

By Emma on June 23, 2009 1 Comments

This morning around 2:30am, I couldn’t sleep… so I decided to take advantage of the “silence” and started creating what’s called a Mind Map. A Mind Map is a powerful strategy that was considered ” a thinking tool that reflects externally what’s going on inside of your head – like a Swiss Army knife for the brain” – by a gentleman named Tony Buzan. Here is his video to understand how Mind Mapping works:

For my purposes, I created my colored Mind Map w/ a free toll called http:www.bubbl.us - it took a little getting used to but I did get the hang of it. Here is what I created…sorry if the text is too small.

As for the original Mind Map I created, it needs a lot of improvement and needs to be highlighted with color but not bad for my very first attempt. Thjs truly helped me gain clarity!

So, what are you waiting for? Grab your pen and paper or head on to http://www.bubbl.us and create your own Mind Map! Be sure to come back to this blog and share your link with me so I can see what you created!
