SQUISH THE FEAR…FEED THE FAITH…RECEIVE GOD’S FUNNEL OF FAVOR!

By Emma on April 25, 2009 4 Comments

My heart is so overjoyed right now!  I am in such awe of God’s wondrous love!

Two weeks ago, Gary and I decided that we were going to sell one of our investment properties – a beautiful condominium unit in Laguna Niguel, CA.  We are at a stage right now where we are experiencing a “correction” and re-direction of our financial goals and it was best to simplify our lives and be able to really PROSPER WHERE WE’RE PLANTED ( a lesson we learned the hard way) and continue with our War On Debt, which Dani Johnson, Joyce Meyer and Dave Ramsey all have taught us.

We have wonderful tenants in that property and what was really sad for us was to see them have to move.  However, we wanted to be obedient to the strong leading to sell that property so we contacted our trusted realtor friend and 2 days ago, that property was finally listed as For Sale.

Gary’s initial concern to our decision was that the property might sit in the market for months and that the listing would go stale and we might have to be dealing with low ball offers.  That day, I read to Him the promises on the Book of Deuteronomy and we as a family believed that all things do work together for good!

We had peace in accepting that the sale of this condo was part of God’s bigger plan and if that was the case, He would go before us and pave the way for an effortless sale.  That if we walk by faith and not by sight, that God will open doors that no one can shut and close doors that no one can open.  I knew in my heart that by not letting fear get the best of us and by being obedient, that we will sell that condo at the perfect time – not one day late, not one day early.

Today, is the day that miracle happened.  After the property has been listed for ONLY 2 days, Gary called me and said, “Honey, I have good news,  a better news and an even better news!”  I knew it had something to do with the condo sale.  He said “THE REALTOR CALLED AND SAID WE GOT AN OFFER AND THE BUYERS ARE WILLING TO PUT 50% DOWN AND THEY WANT A 15 DAY ESCROW AND THEY WANT OUR TENANTS TO STAY!”

I don’t know about you but to me, that is one GIANT FUNNEL OF FAVOR FROM GOD!  After I hung up from Gary, I got down on my hands and knees and wept to God in utmost and inexplicable GRATITUDE!  Every day, we have miracles upon miracles happening in our lives but what happened today was beyond anything we ever expected and I am speechless but my spirit rejoices!

Why am I sharing this?  Because I believe that if you’re reading this, we have somewhat made a connection either on Facebook, Twitter or our mutual social media sites, and to really connect and build true relationships with people, I believe in transparency.

More importantly, it’s because I am all about HOPE – I am a messenger of hope!  I know that if there is one person who will read this post and get encouraged by it, then I have paid this miracle forward and have given credit to whom credit is due!

In this time of uncertainty for most people, my family made a decision that we will pray for an extra heap of courage and wisdom so that we will not fear and will have our eyes fixed on the Lord…

It is my prayer for all of you who are faced with doubt and fear that you will find that peaceful place where you can truly believe to receive daily miracles.

That every day, regardless of your situation, you will learn to say over and over what I learned from Joyce Meyer: “Something good is going to happen to me today and I can hardly wait to see what God has in store for me!”

WE HAVE MADE A CONSCIOUS DECISION TO SQUISH THE FEAR AND FEED OUR FAITH!  I pray that this article will somewhat help encourage and remind you to do the same!

Reporter vs Expert – Why Most Bloggers Are Stuck Reporting

By Emma on April 23, 2009 No Comments

There are basically two types of bloggers in the world – reporters and experts – and some people perform both roles (usually the experts, it’s hard for reporters to become experts, but it’s easy for experts to report).

If you have ever taken an Internet marketing course or attended a seminar specifically for beginners, you have probably heard about the two different methodologies. Whenever the business model is based on content, and if you blog for money then the model is based on content, people are taught to either start as reporters, or if possible step up as experts.

I’ll be frank; you want to be the expert.

Reporters leverage the content of the experts and in most cases people start off as reporters because they haven’t established expertise. Experts enjoy the perks of preeminence, higher conversion rates because of perceived value, it’s easier to get publicity, people are more likely to seek you out rather than you having to seek others out, joint ventures come easier, etc - experts in most cases simply make more money and attract more attention.

Most Bloggers Are Reporters

The thing with expertise is that it requires something – experience. No person becomes an expert without doing things and learning. Bloggers usually start out without expertise and as a result begin their blogging journey by talking about everything going on in their niche (reporting) and by interviewing and talking about other experts (reporting again).

There’s nothing wrong with reporting of course and for many people it’s a necessity at first until you build up some expertise. Unfortunately the ratios are pretty skewed when it comes to reporters and experts – there are a lot more reporters than there are experts, hence reporters tend to struggle to gain attention and when they do, they often just enhance the reputation of the expert they are reporting on.

Don’t Replicate Your Teacher

If you have ever spent some time browsing products in the learn Internet marketing niche you will notice a pattern. Many people first study Internet marketing from a “guru” (for lack of a better term). The guru teaches how he or she is able to make money online, and very often the view that the student gleams is that in order to make money online you have to teach others how to make money online.

The end result of this process is a huge army of amateurs attempting to replicate what their teacher does in the same industry – the Internet marketing industry – not realizing that without expert status based on a proven record and all the perks that come with it, it’s next to impossible to succeed.

Even people, who enjoy marginal success, say for example growing an email list of 1,000 people, then go out and launch a product about how to grow an email list of 1,000 people. Now I have no problems with that, I think it’s fine to teach beginners and leverage whatever achievements you have, the problem is that people gravitate to the same niche – Internet marketing – and rarely have any key points of differentiation.

How many products out there do you know of that all claim to teach the same things – email marketing, SEO, pay per click, affiliate marketing, and all the sub-niches that fall under the category of Internet marketing. It’s a saturated market, yet when you see your teachers and other gurus making money teaching others how to make money (and let’s face it – making money as a subject is one of the most compelling) – your natural inclination is to follow in their footsteps.

If the key is to become an expert and you haven’t spent the last 5-10 years making money online, I suggest you look for another niche to establish expertise in.

Report on Your Process, Not Others

The secret to progress from reporter to expert is not to focus on other experts and instead report on your own journey. When you are learning how to do something and implementing things day by day, or studying other people’s work, you need to take your process and what you do as a result of what you learn, and use it as content for your blog.

It’s okay to talk about experts when you learn something from them, but always relate it to what you are doing. If you learn a technique from an expert it’s fine to state you learned it from them (and affiliate link to their product too!) but you should then take that technique, apply it to what you are doing and then report back YOUR results, not there’s. Frame things using your opinion – your stories – and don’t regurgitate what the expert said. The key is differentiation and personality, not replication.

Expertise comes from doing things most people don’t do and then talking about it. If you do this often enough you wake up one day as an expert, possibly without even realizing how it happened, simply because you were so good at reporting what you did.

You Are Already An Expert

Most people fail to become experts (or perceived as experts) because they don’t leverage what they already know. Every person who lives a life learns things as they go, takes action every day and knows something about something. The reason why they never become an expert is because they choose not to (which is fine for some, not everyone wants to be an expert), but if your goal is to blog your way to expertise and leave the world of reporting behind you have to start teaching and doing so by leveraging real experience.

Experience can come from what you do today and what you have done previously; you just need to take enough steps to demonstrate what you already know and what you are presently learning along your journey. I know so many people in my life, who are experts simply by virtue of the life they have lived, yet they are so insecure about what they know, they never commit their knowledge to words for fear of -well fear.

Blogs and the Web in general, are amazing resources when you leverage them as a communication tool to spread your expertise because of the sheer scope of people they can reach. If all you ever do is talk to people in person and share your experience using limited communication mediums, you haven’t much hope of becoming an expert. Take what you know and show other people through blogging, and you might be surprised how people change their perception of you in time.

Reporting Is A Stepping Stone

If your previous experience and expertise is from an area you want to leave behind or you are starting from “scratch”, then reporting is the path you must walk, at least for the short term.

Reporting is a lot of fun. Interviewing experts, talking about what other people are doing and just being part of a community is not a bad way to blog. In many cases people make a career of reporting (journalism is about just that), but if you truly want success and exponential results, at some point you will have to stand up and proclaim yourself as someone unusually good at something and then proceed to demonstrate it over and over again.

Have patience and focus on what you do to learn and then translate that experience into lessons for others, and remember, it’s okay to be a big fish in a small pond, that’s all most experts really are.

My Honest Review Of Social Media Secrets ( By Mike Dillard and Perry Belcher )

By Emma on April 17, 2009 1 Comments

This morning, I had planned on spending my morning finishing my housework and getting back to some of the Twitter and Facebook friends who have been so kind to take the time to post comments or say hello to me from time to time. It’s getting more and more challenging for me to reply to posts but I do my best to get back with them even if it’s sometimes a day later because I really value their time.

However, around noon today, I received an email from Mike Dillard, asking his friends to post a review of his Social Media Secrets course, which he co-created with Perry Belcher. Most of you already know how much I truly admire Mike and Perry and how I truly consider them two of the best mentors anyone could ever have on internet marketing.

I was busy doing housework when Mike’s email came but I knew that if I were to do a video review, I had to do it right there and then since this weekend is our 11th Wedding Anniversary. I wanted so bad to be able to help out in giving them my 2 cents worth on how Social Media Secrets has paved the way to where I am now in the game of social media, internet and video marketing. When I made up my mind to do this video testimonial, I was able to change out of my sweats, put a little bit of make-up on, get my video and tripod out and record this video, all within 30 minutes! I had a few minutes to spare right before I picked up Garrett from school but I did it!!!

If you are new to social media marketing and are looking for guidance on how to really use it to connect with others and build deep and meaningful relationships that will ultimately help you attract the perfect clients, I highly recommend that you don’t dilly dally and grab yourself a copy of Social Media Secrets…I tell you, IT WILL CHANGE YOUR LIFE!

What Makes YOU Qualified As An Expert?

By Emma on April 10, 2009 1 Comments

It’s 5:30 am …it’s very dark and quiet around here…for Lent, we decided to go to Mammoth Mountain and just relax as a family. It’s due… we have been working and running around like everybody else and we believed that it was time to REALLY unwind.

There is something about being in the mountains that makes me appreciate the beauty of God’s creation. Being in a valley, looking at the snow-covered gargantuan mountains leaves me in awe! There is something about falling snow that really makes you stop, appreciate and slow down. The joy in Garrett’s face as he throws snowballs to his Dad or makes a snow angel is priceless!

My boys planned on going skiing today and I have really planned on writing in between my Mommy-duties of cooking and tidying up our cabin. We are so blessed to have a good friend who owns a beautiful condo up here on Snowcreek and he gifted us with a 4 day-stay!

This morning, I purposely woke up earlier than my boys. I was itching to write while it’s all quiet. So I brewed my coffee and sat down. However, as soon as I sat down, I asked myself, “Well, what will I write about?” There was nothing in particular that came to mind except that I wanted to capture the essence of why we’re here so I just typed away…

But then, a question that came to mind was this: “What Makes You Qualified As An Expert?” If you’re on Twitter and Facebook, you’re probably very familiar with some wonderful experts out there. Some are experts in social media marketing, some in website creation, video marketing and some in mindset development and some in life and success coaching. If you’re like me, I have always been inspired by many of them and I really and truly want to connect and learn from them.

What about you, what is your expertise? What’s that burning passion you have from inside that really wants you to keep going and make a DIFFERENCE IN SOMEONE’S LIFE! What experiences have you had in empowering others with that? What might seem so irrelevant and insignificant to you is probably where your expertise lies. All of us have wisdom to give and to share. One of the major differences between those who want to be coached and the experts are that the experts already have measurable results, they have already spent thousands of dollars and lots of hours in personal or technical development and they have produced results for themselves and for others.

When your focus is no longer just on yourself but on the greater good that you can provide others, it’s inevevitable that you become an expert in whatever it is that you chose to be proficient in giving from. This question could help you when the focus turns to turn on you again: “Do you leave people better than you found them?” Whether it’s by making them feel special by a kind word, a smile or a word of encouragement… Most human beings have a great desire to connect but most people simply don’t know how.

For the past 6 months, I have been constantly asked if I am a success coach and how much I charge per hour. I always felt that I don’t have what it takes to be an “expert” just yet and that coaching is best left to people who are educated…who have a degree in psychology or have a true experience in the business world. What I have completely forgotten is that yes, I majored in business, yes, I have succeeded in business and I have years experience of practically going to “graduate school” of life through the countless hours and dollars I spent attending various seminars and workshops. Indeed I am definitely equipped and I’ve been helping people from where they are to where they want to go.

With that said, I am proud to say, I AM AN EXPERT! I am an expert Relational Marketer…I am highly proficient at teaching business owners how to capture their essence and their message and help them get that message out to the clients who are waiting for them via social media marketing, internet marketing and video marketing. And as they develop their own expertise, I am able to help connect them with people they need to connect with.

This weekend, will be a another huge turning point in my life! This weekend is when start putting together everything I have learned and create mini-teachings that I will be able to post on this blog to help encourage, empower and enlighten. I believe that I went through many darkness and uncertainties so I can bring them out into the light. Buckle-your seats and prepare yourself for an incredible ride of your life!
